The new Blackberry Bold 9780 is available on phones4u on a 24 month contract with unlimited texts, web and 500 mins on o2.

Seems a very reasonable deal considering the phone was just released and there is no upfront charge to pay for the phone. The 9700 bold isn't even that cheap on a contract if u get it directly from an o2 store on their website.

The phone itself is updated version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 that features an improved camera, more memory, and the same premium design and finish.

My first deal so be kind haha

will probably be limited web, am guessing at 500mb
#2
Yeah it is. Is 500mb not plenty anyway? I got a HTC Smart phone and only use 30mb max a month and thats with 1-2 hour browsing a day!
#3
alright if you got little fingers lol

Great deal. I send and receive over 50 emails daily + some browsing + daily use of google maps on my bold 9000 and have never gone over 80mb

Data downloaded on BB BIS data services are compressed data so you wouldn't download the same amount compare to standard data service of the same webpage. Unless you're just using BB BIS data for web browsing, Facebook/Twitter & emails then you won't be using much.

VoIP/video & music streaming/GPS/BBC iPlayer/YouTube/instant messaging will use much more bandwidth & requires continuous connection hence uses more data allowance.

So just use WiFi for those heavy downloads/pages when available if you're mobile phone supports it. It's much more stable & faster connection.

In most cases, a majority of people don't even use the full monthly allowance they have. Yet, if so concerned then check your mobile phone online account to see exactly what you've downloaded to date & what have you got left until you're next bill run date.

does this include the blackberry messenger thing? That always confuses me..

Yes it does & BB Messenger is free to use from your BB data allowance on Blackberry Internet Services in UK.

BIS is basically a server run by BB which your BB connects to. This server is the one which checks your email account & notifies your handset when there are new emails. It also acts as a proxy server for web browsing, and as a server for BB messenger.

Your BB makes one single SSL encrypted connection to the BIS, and transfers data over that. On O2 (or whichever network your contract's with), they allow you to use their mobile network for this connection. When roaming, this data usage will come at a cost. This means BBM, emails, web browsing and so on will cost money if you do it over a foriegn mobile network.

Equally, a blackberry with WiFi can make this connection to the BIS via WiFi. Therefore, if there's free (of charge) WiFi available somewhere, then this connection can be made via that.

You can use BB Messenger while roaming but the data is so low that you will have to use a lot of messages before you rack up a high roaming data bill as it's compressed data.

However, if you use the built-in WiFi features of the BB Bold 9780 or other BB handsets then you could use BB Messenger without logging any roaming data use & been charged for it.

Is that a better deal? £12.50 for 10 months by redemption, the rest looks the same as this deal.
