This deal was previously posted by BeeKeeper and expired on 30th September 2009,
( http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/463624/get-a-bt-line-installed-for-free-un )
However the offer has now been extended with no confirmed expiry date.

I've just spoken to someone at BT and this offer is still running.

This is a great offer if you need a BT socket in your house. The offer applies to new lines, reconnections and second lines. You do have to sign an 18 months contract and the cheapest monthly tarrif is £11.25 if you pay by DD and have paperless billing.

This isn't available online : to get it you need to ring 0800 800 150, lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 8am to 8pm, Sunday 9am to 6pm. When you call, ask for the 'New line free connection offer'.

Im sure its always been the case of free connection charge on the 18 month plan, just have to pay for the 12 month plan...

otherwise there would be no point them doing an 18 month plan as they dont offer any further discounts.
#2
BT tend not to advertise their free connection offer & try to instead charge you £122.50 - You usually have to quote the deal to them to get it.
Original offer : http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/current/Notice09_boo/2-FrameworkImpl337855.htm

If you dont quote 'Free connection offer' or 'CAB999' you wont get it.

Its 18month contract and you do have to make 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month or your charged £6.80 per month ,(i work there and sell this daily)

Offer finishes 31st Dec

Ring 01324452502 for the offer

Wouldn't go back to BT if they paid me too.

Is this the only way to get a 'free' connection or reconnection.
I have a socket that is not switched on. What is the best & cheapest way of getting it connected?

I only really want it for broadband ?

With this offer. Just make your 10 chargeable calls per month at weekends when the calls are free anyway.

Who would you recomend then , i just want a cheapest line for broadband where there is no cable facilty.
#8
Cheers thanks for the advice.

I've also seen offers for the Line reconnection via sky, is this worth looking into seeing as I'll be paying £11 + BB charges ?

Don't worry, they wont ;-)

I created this thread earlier today - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/518688/help-advice-changing-my-phoneline-f - and can confirm that BT will need you to enter an 18 month contract and make 10 'chargeable' calls per month. Their cheapest tariff is £11.25, so if like me you just want the line for cheap broadband (o2, Be, etc.), make 10 calls at weekends.

@the guy who sells for BT, is there any kind of minimum limit to these calls, do certain calls not count as part of the 10?

I called last Sunday and got told the offer was no longer running. Will try again later
#12
I wouldn't go back to BT either ..... I am having lots of lots and lots of hassles inc overcharging, connecting and not answering my queries (for the co I work for not me personally)!!!
#13
I take it this is only for residential lines, are there any deals for business?

As much as BT suck, this deal is great for anyone wanting/needing a BT line installed for say o2 broadband and have hit a wall when it comes to the ridiculous BT activation/install fee.

I'm finally manning up and getting as far away from Virgin as possible, BT would have to really go out of their way to match Virgin's levels of incompetence and sheer idiocy!

Apart from needing a phone line for the broadband, oh and the broadband costs too??

I am going to go for this offer and then do O2 broadband through Quidco. Only go for it if you can get their full service, ie LLU and its only really cheap if you're an O2 mobile customer.

I called BT yesterday to set up an account in a house I'm moving into next week.
It is currently on TalkTalk and I thought I would need to pay a reconnection. I quoted the special code but the guy I spoke to said that it wasn't required as the TalkTalk line is live and all they need to do is take it over. There wouldn't be a charge at all.
He's put me on a 12 month contract.
I asked him to confirm several times but he was adament that they wouldn't charge the reconnection fee.
He said only if the line had been cancelled by TalkTalk there would be a reconnection charge.
I'm still unsure as I thought if you were with TalkTalk you had to pay the fee.

Voted hot by the way.

I'd strongly advise caution on this - I got a new line in may using this deal - but I've been overcharged £4.20 on my bill ever since. After five months of letters of complaint etc, I can confirm that they have the *worst* customer service I've ever come across and most often they refuse to give the overcharges back unless I agree to pay the connection charge. So much for "free".

Bunch of cowboys, I'll never touch them again.
#22
I went through Quidco to reconnect to BT and it has tracked at £15 cash back

I unfortunately had to sign up to BT last week and saw the £122.50 connection charge but they state they only charge this in some cases (usually it's free). They will warn me in advance if I have to pay but so far I haven't seen it on their email or postal confirmations. I'm assuming as I've been with them before, it shouldn't be an issue?!
#25
i can confirm Bt have the worst customer service and overcharge like hell! my poor mother is stuck in an 18 month contract

ive recntly moved into a new place-my line needs activating-what would eb the best way to just get the line activated-i dont want to enter into a contract-just need it for broadband??

cheers

Got rid of Orange after a long argument (must be the worst cust service organisation on the planet!) about three years ago and moved to BT. Have never looked back and would be reluctant to move elsewhere even if I haven't got the absolute cheapest deal going.
#27
have never had so many problems as i have with bt i signed up last year to the 18 month to get it installed free but have had nothing but problems charged me over £300 disconection fee when i added anytime calls on and never told me it was a new contract after hours spent on phone and over 10 emails they eventualy got round to a refund but i had to pay it all 1st as the bill was due and they hadnt put in on hold till it was sorted asked to speak to a manger several times but advisors refused even had them hang up when i asked...BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE...contract ends in march next year 1 more bill then im outa there and i cant wait

BT now make virgin look like angels.

Bt screwed my credit rating up by cancelling appointments and then rescheduling them with out telling me there was a credit check on every re scheduled appointment! After 15 times they wanted a deposit off me! and promised me no foreign call centres.
#29
voted cold, have one of the worst customer service of all the companies I have dealt with...
#30
cold, too many strings, hardlly free.
#31
I'm sure it depends on your circumstances, but I've never had any problems with BT. I even managed to get out of a contract early, when one of their staff gave me wrong information.

It interesting how everyone has a story about how their provider offers the worst customer service, but let face it, when it comes to large companies, they're often terrible! :)
#32
ye every big company has its downfalls...its just bt has more than most :giggle:

Would have to agree, currently with Bulldog, to change broadband I have to ring BT to get them to reactivate my line, then contact O2 (or whoever) to get them to arrange new broadband, which would mean NO BROADBAND for a couple of weeks!!!
#34
If you have bad customer service and need things fixed I find a well placed email the best way of cutting through the crap

'[email protected]'

MiL had her phone cut off on a sunday for non-payment of her bill despite the fact this was a huge BT cock up, called CS told they can't sort it till Monday as that dept doesn't work weekends, cue an email to the above I got a reply within ONE HOUR on a Sunday afternoon, the line was back on inside 90 mins an hour later I had a call from one of his staff and the following Tuesday a huge bunch of flowers arrived.

Just goes to show what you can achieve when you cut to the chase and i'd advise anyone with BT problems to do the same!!
#35
they royally fked my phone when i moved house.

bb sucks balls and you are capped on a night. customer service is garbage and they are expensive much better alternatives IMO.

i would pay the connection charge not to be with these fools- COLD purely for a bad service

I was with Bulldog for over 3 years (16MB plan), but as soon as they sold out to Pipex (owned by Tiscali), they moved me on to their 8MB plan and said I couldn't get 16MB as it was impossible. They failed to understand I was a former Bulldog customer, and someone at Pipex was messing about with my profile, so I cancelled the whole lot and switched to Be (requiring a BT line I got for free last year). I haven't looked back. I'm connected at just under 24MB and paying £17.50 a month. When I signed up I took their latest offer of £40 free credit, free connection and free modem (which comes as standard anyway). With zero caps, I'm in seventh heaven. Ditch BD.

Well said!
I've got Sky for everything and it's still cheaper than BT!
WOuld NEVER go back to them - just a bunch of rip-off merchants!
#38
Im with Bt and I'm on the 8MB of which I get about 5MB and I find when my boy is playing online games my ping is better than ppl who are on much higher MB than me?
I did read somewhere that it's not always the MB you should look at but summit else ( I forget) to do with quality lag time or summit.
Never changed and never had a problem with em :)

agreed, they used to be good

Have some rep. You clearly know what you're talking about then.

As much as I dislike telecoms companies in general, this is a great deal if you are installing a brand new line.
