If you're happy with this package, then it costs £5.00 per month or you pay nothing if you just keep a very basic package of around 200 mins & texts and 200mb. I just wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this or taken it out? Seems a bit too good to offer a free package?!?

FreedomPop are terrible. All of the calls are handled like VoIP. Even in an area with full strength Three signal, calls just will not connect!
Take a look at the FreedomPop reviews online or even other users posts on HUKD before you think that this will be good value...

Agree with roflll. The free package - have one of their SIMs on free plan @ 200mins, 200 txts, 200MBs - in an old 3G capable phone (as FreedomPop uses Three data network) as a backup, but wouldn't like to rely on it at all. and certainly not to be paying for it!

Every time a freedom pop "deal" appears it goes cold.
Nuff said.

Terrible company. I downgraded my account. Changed settings to no for automatic top up, but they kept taking payments each month. First said it was an error then refunded, then they did it again the following month and have just found out they have done it again! I even changed bank details to stop them but they have taken payment on a stolen card!!?? how is that possible? Now I have to go through the hassel of getting a refund-again!

This also happened to someone else I know.
I wouldnt recommend them! disgusting

I tried it but never made a successful call - took me 3 emails and a phone call to cancel it.

AVOID! This is worst of the worst.
-They uses VoiP, meaning all services provided by internet. 2-3s delay and POOR quality guaranteed!
-You need to use their app to send/receive texts and for calls too, unles you pay £1.99 extra a month for Premium Voice.
-Too many hidden charges
-No way to call 0845,0870 numbers-even you are happy to pay.
-No way to send txts to short numbers(like pay for parking, voting, etc.)
-No way to call international number(you have to buy International plan, but what if I want to make only few odd calls a year)
-No roaming (unless ordering Global SIM)
- Customer services non existent
- Number porting cost £4.99 ( no one else in the UK charges for porting number)

Just save yourself trouble .

They never charged me for porting my number in or out.
There forum is quite good at answering your questions if you cannot get though they helped me quite a lot when i had a few problems.

I can also say they took money off me after reducing to free tariff and removing everything I could.

Nice concept technology wise, shame its on Three network (not good south west London) but they are crooks

personally I think freedompop gets an unfair amount of abuse on this website

if you only need a data SIM for a low usage tablet then freedompop is fine - you can get at least 900mb free a month i.e. 200mb basic + 200mb for 20 friends & then another 500mb if 5 friends give you 100mb each

the phone service is a complete pain in the **** though - the only way I have been able to keep voice calls working after the first month is by repeatedly using & then cancelling the 'free premium voice trial' (you can use the trial more than once on the same SIM card) - without the trial the voice calls stop working for me after the first month

I was looking at this too but I think I read somewhere that you had to have mobile data to be able to use the call and message funtion

Not only data, but you must use FreedomPop messaging application to be able to send/receive texts and make/receive calls.

We do offer VOIP operating services. However, we offer a new value added service called Premium Voice which allows you to use a cellular network connection for calls in weak signal areas. Ensures high-quality voice calls even when network connection is poor by switching seamlessly between FreedomPop voice and cellular voice. The link provided will help elaborate on how the service works.
