Guardian is 80p on weekdays. The voucher is only valid for today unfortunately. But as they're not actually taking the voucher off you, you can use it again and again (provided its not the same branch or they don't remember you when you go back later!)
And even hotter deal for those in London who managed to get the 40p off a Guardian voucher at major train stations on Monday.
#13
Not really free though is it? You still have to buy the Guardian for 80p.

OK its still cheap for a coffee......but not completely free. :whistling:

Desperate times for Starbucks if they are now giving them away?

Looks chilling like many of their US counterparts!

Cold for me, not my type of cuppa for ethical reasons!
#15
nice deal. Starbucks are also giving away small bags of coffee to promote their One Planet thing. I got mine in croydon today.

Hot for me, and so, hopefully, will the Mocha be.

And wow... someone protests for ethical reasons? I just love the determination of those people who wear home woven sackcloth, grow all their own food, are completely vegan, refuse to watch the media or look at the internet because they could be indirectly causing some interpretable exploitation somewhere. I think they call them 'Amish.'

Although I have to say, I'm not one for projecting Western economic standards on third world nations... Starbucks buying millions of tonnes of coffee from third world farmers at keen prices must be a lot less sucky than Starbucks stopping buying millions of tonnes of coffee from third world farmers so that the farmers can either go out of business, or just watch their crops rot away.

Strikes me as being kind of like demanding lots of cheap discounts for Westerners to buy products they don't need, or could really afford to buy at full price, so that the manufacturers have to squeeze the labour and raw materials prices in order to sell to insatiable Westerners at discount prices.

Or using the internet for pleasure when you know that it is an agent of misery for so many people, abused, exploited, violated and ripped off...

And after all that thinking, I'm ready for a nice cup of joe...

thanks, heat added

Guardian was always 20p when bought at the student union, I'll brave the great unwashed and go see if that's still the case.
Edit: Apparently it's gone up to 30p - still a bargain!
#19
Thanks OP, just been down and ordered a large mocha, and the nice assistant suggested cream on top as well. who am i to argue??? :-D So a £3 coffee for a measly 80p....... Winner

Probably is because they have to buy a copy of the gardian! and its not that cool handing over a voucher in front of the hip set at starbucks, bit like those old free school dinner tickets.
#21
This is a good deal and The Guardian is handy if you run out of toilet paper.
#22
Fantastic deal - now is there a Starbucks in Hayes???
#23
Great deal. Heat and rep added

Any ideas what time Starbucks are usually open until?

Pay money for coffee? :whistling:

We've got several coffee machines at work. The double expressos it churns out are like rocket fuel. We also have the Flavia machines as well.
#26
Can you get a frap with this voucher?
#27
wow. I might actually buy a guardian! So you can have any size? And any coffee like a white mocha or what ever?

hot

Sure can! Just been into the Putney one and got a large Mocha (usual price £3.15, I think). Definitely hot for me! Oh and as they do not take the paper off you, there is nothing stopping you from going to another branch and doing the same thing!

Funny that you can't see the irony of the fact you still have to spend 80p for the voucher. :p

This isn't www.doyouthinkthisisanethicalcompanyuk.com.

If you don't like the company then that's your problem don't vote a good deal cold because you dont like a company.

Darn, the one day in the last 6 weeks I'm not going to/past Starbucks :-(

Voted hot, obviously

My son works at Starbucks and he came home on Monday with a handfull of vouchers for free coffee today. Apparently they are relaunching their Shared Planet scheme today and thats why they want people coming in.
