Certainly not as good as the deals with free delivery and money offer (£57 last time) but there are still some decent deals and if you want a desktop system NOW for under £200 this is definitely worth a look.

I've been checking out price comparisons (at least on laptops) - the difference between new and reconditioned really isnt that great, about £60 at most. For that kinda money i think its better to have new built rather than take a chance on an Outlet model.

There does seem to better deals for desktops usually but I picked up an XPS M1330 recently for £413 and they took another 10% off as it has a mark on the lid so that was a particularly good deal for that model; £372 versus £600.
There have been some great deals for the Vostro 1400/1500/1700 on the main Dell site this year which does make the Outlet deals seem mundane. For other systems the Outlet seems more worthwhile.

I’ve handled dozens of Dell’s outlet PCs and I classify them as minimum risk. I returned one at no expense due to it looking shabby and as for the XPS I mentioned above I was happy to take the discount rather than return it. They have a full warranty as well of course including the extended warranties that the XPS has (24/7 support).

Yea guess it does come down to the individual deal, desktops seem to be reduced further.

Speaking of the M1330, is it all that lightweight? I'm thinking of getting one and need something small and light to travel with.

What's the difference between this outlet and the dell ebay outlet shop?

Ebay outlet is usually where they get rid of the marked/scratched ones.

They have different classes of damage type that they sell on eBay and I’ve bought a couple that fit the more minor category and one was unmarked and the other had a very minor mark; the XPS M1330 that I bought from the Outlet was worse but at least I got an extra 10% reduction for that. Categories:

System is scratched or dented
System is visibly scratched/dented or has missing part
System has multiple scratches/dents or missing parts. (something like that).

I bought it to replace a Vostro 1500 (15.4”) and whilst it does offer a useful reduction in size and weight it’s not as dramatic as I expected. I’ve owned a 12” HP Centrino in the past which weighed close to 1.5Kg and for travelling I would prefer a laptop of that class. They tend to be expensive although I’ve seen some Dell refurbs at good prices at a few sites:

How did you manage to get further 10%, was it after you received it?

Yes. When it first arrived I wasn’t sure that I like the laptop so I emailed the guy that handled the order and told him about the marking. He asked for a photo and after he saw it he phoned me and offered me a refund or a 10% discount. After I used it a few more days I decided that I liked it and took him up on the discount.

It hasn't expired, I'll ask a Mod to change the date; it ends midnight on Thursday.

The second email with the confirmation can take a day or two. If you don’t here by Thursday I’d ring them on the direct line for the Outlet and speak with Sales.
