tend to agree with this - should be free delivery all the time.

Now all they need to do is lower their prices and have a good look at the quality of some of their stock.

Built my first PC last weekend, was an achievement in itself i can tell you lol.

Anyway, i only got 1 x SATA data and 1 x SATA power cable in the mobo box. So i head down Maplins on Sunday to purchase said items and they charged me £10.98. TEN POUND 98P!!!!!! :x

So i looked on ebay and bought the above items, delivered First Class Mail, for 99p.

Needless to say i'll be getting a refund from Maplins. How they get away with it is beyond me

Every now and again, they really surprise me by having something decent, for a good price.

Most times I wander in, and wander out shaking my head.
#7
cheers ...........

should be free delivery all the time - not for 3 days only!

Maplins used to be a fantastic electronic components supplier and I guess they still are in an easily accessible manner for the general hobbyist. However ever since they started trying to appeal to everyone a few years ago they have gone down hill to a point where I hate going to their stores now.

I would say this is potentially a good deal if they have something you want at a reasonable price otherwise don't bother!

suppose we'll have to be grateful for small mercys:roll:

Great, and Quidco too, so beats going to the store :)

Very expensive, that well known auction site must be killing their sales.

One F-connector at Maplin costs £1.99 !!!! You can get 10 of them delivered from that other place.
#13
Wont be "FREE" to send the broken rubbish back, as that is what you will be doing :x

Since their last take over, its nothing more than an expensive pound shop... Oh for the days when you could buy what you want, and the staff had a clue :whistling:

Nicely put! I do wander in occasionally and just procrastinate about how can they get away with selling this poor quality AND overpriced tat!

Great that they are offering free delivery, but yes it should be free all the time like HMV!

I think MAPLINS is great i like to have a look around so i can see the items physically then buy it cheaper elsewhere on-line, hehe

an example of maplins great prices:

8GB micro SD £99 lol http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=45378

Rip off indeed!!!

I went there a year ago to get some stuff for hooking up my surround sound.

Needed an optical cable to go from PS3 to the amp. I ended up paying £13 for one, then when I got home I popped onto amazon and could've got one just as good for less than £3!!!!! So I took it back!! (along with some other bits!)

Wont go there now. Now I'm more patient, will wait for delivery some a cheap online place....

Why is this even on the front page? Free delivery should be permanent - 3 days is a joke.

Ive been a member long enough to know that a decent deal from Maplins will come up once in a blue moon so why should anyone care about this? Fair enough, it is quarter to five in the morning and I could be talking the talk of a drunken fool, but I reckon pretty much everything theyre selling could be had for cheaper elsewhere.

I will vote hot and give rep for anything that is posted as a deal from this place that works out cheaper than somewhere else. Im too kind :)
#19
what time does this start as they are still charging for delivery.
#20
Not my type of shop at all (not a handbag in sight) but last time they did free delivery I got some lightbulbs from them. Think it was 25W SES, which are hard to find in supermarkets and they cost the same as on Fleabay but the free delivery made them cheaper. So I wouldn't write them off completely, good for some things.

o.k I'll answer my own question it starts at 9.00 this morning until 8.59 on tuesday morning.

Has anyone spotted any bargains?

For example, I bought the heated gloves before Christmas for £9.99, now in their clearance items and with free delivery their £19.99.

Its a decent find by the original poster and worthy of a thread but until anyone actually spots a bargain, I won't be voting.

Like all good Electrical and computer bricks & mortar shops i.e DSG they overcharge like hell! Cables and plugs etc at least Maplin have some good offers occassionally

it might say its free delivery but its not, try adding something to your basket like say CL02C for example

9.99 inc vat
total ex vat 8.69
delivery 0.00
vat total 1.69 ( hang on a second that makes a total price of £10.38 thats not right! VAT should only be £1.30)
total price according to Maplin with free delivery is £12.98, (where did they get that from it should be 9.99!)

Free delivery, I think not it costs 2.98 for delvery even it it says 0.00
#25
How on earth has this generated so much heat?
Free delivery on ridiculously priced items is not a deal.
#26
Well I like them, sure you have you have keep an eye on there prices  Heat added

You have to take it through the whole checkout process before you get the correct price.

It's actually a good deal if you need a small amount of components, most other suppliers have minimum orders in the £25-30 ex VAT range so even Maplin's sickening prices can still work out as the cheaper option...
