I wouldnt shop here even if it was 90% off....overpriced tat of worse quality than the stuff from dealextreme, but what I hate is the terrible customer service....couldnt care less and every customer is a thief type of 'customer service' that dates back to the 1980's

I bought a charger 9 months ago, its been replaced 5 times and now ive demanded a refunded....until yesterday, i couldnt find the receipt and they wouldnt refund me...even thought the last charger was 1 day old and in maplin packaging!

Ive now found the receipt, but im still expecting a rough ride getting a refund....if that doesnt work ill start the legal process....this happened to 4 other items ive bought and ive got close to going to small claims

this company is a joke....like laskys, woolworths, zavvi - terrible customer service and companys i boycotted....and look what happened to those 3 companies....so, bye bye maplin!

Well you know, proof of purchase is required, whether branded or not. Going in and saying I bought it yesterday doesn't mean anything, you could have bought it two years ago and then fancy a new one so try your luck.

actually you dont need a receipt or proof of purchase at decent shops, like b&q, heelas, novatech

not only that the item i bought was in new packaging that had been released 1 week before i bought it, so they knew it was at best 1 week old.....they are just jobsworths and hiding behind a poorly defined standard business process

most proper shops keeps records of transactions, maplin say they dont which is bull****

Boohoo, go back and show the receipt instead of moaning here about Maplin. Every company has customers who've experience poor CS, including B&Q.

Www..aaaa..woopee-do-da, free deeleevaaree - from the most expensive source of common-and-garden goodies shoppe. Wonder if their patrons ever heard of a place called Ye Bigge Sweat Shoppe from The East where 'fings are so cheap that they'll pay you to buy it off their hands.

C'mon people, have heart and maybe a ear or two but don't fergit yore brain too, OK? Whhaat? You can buy those cheapo £1 jobbies and get it delivered free now? Well, you don't say….. How on [GrandMother] Earth do Argos and Maplin not only breathe but are able to yell their lungs off with impunity is The Mystery of the Ages.

I have said it before and will again Maplin use to be good before they got into gadgets and consumer sh!t now they are ridiculously overpriced and as above lack service.

For the geeks amongst us Farnel have no minimum delivery and it's free postage :) .
#13
Thanks for the heads up, been looking to get a few smallish items!
#14
overpriced tat , poor technical help and customer service ... sorry.

This company used to be excellent years ago, get better quality stuff and more polite staff in pound shops these days.

Anyway...this seems cheap to me: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98103 and this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=221068 (not to everyones liking though). I like the idea of a matx box with two dvd drive bays, and full atx PSU support.

Both have free delivery normally anyways!

They're not the company they once were, but they do still have some specialist kit that ebay tat vendors don't. I bought an audio cable (6.35mm stereo plug to two 3.5mm mono jacks) from them that would have cost significantly more even if I could find it.

Yeah, most of it's cheaper to get from HK, but heat for the option to pick up a few cheap bits delivered within a couple of days!

:) B&Q!!!! they are bunch of muppets too! I got a rubble sack of then which was literally a tube because it did not have seal on one sideand they have refuced to replace/refund since I did not have receipt! I said them "Do you think I would argue over a few quid item if I did not buy it from your shop?" and they were still fighting over it... Sometimes it is not store but the its management which looks after pennies while loosing pounds...

I've worked for Currys and there was a customer who had a problem with an item various times, we exchanged it for him and the final time he lost the receipt we still exchanged it for him because by the 4th time we knew his face  customer service guys!!!!::roll:

I totally agree mapjoke ooops i mean maplin store manager in Manchester and in Birmingham have their own way of dealing with customers. I rate this cold because what is so good in there??? just wires, and wires upon wires, woowwwwwwwww:w00t:

Yeah Maplins used to be good but bought some items from them recently that were tatt. I had to take one item back 3 times coz it kept on breaking after a month. In the end enough was enough so went instore and got my money back. Think I'll be using CPC in future.

Hmm... Norm

Seems good, but no sign of free delivery on the website yet; still coming up as £2.99.

EDIT: It's now appeared. :)

If you want know anything about 'consumer law' then you must understand that a retailer has to honour your purchase for six(6) years.
Shops like Maplin's employ the dirge of society who have not got an iota of knowledge about 'consumer law' and resemble mushrooms(kept in the dark and fed ****).
I have succeeded in civil prosecutions for a refund or replacement and compensation, of any goods that I have purchased that became faulty within six years of use.
The people at the top need to know what is going on and if they don't care get your MP involved. You will soon see a rapid change in attitude.
As for this deal and many more on here, the posters are committing plagiarism, and as I have only seen a handful of cases tried before the Crown the number is growing.
Companies like Quidco are under investigation for breaches of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and fraud.

If you want to eradicate companies that pass on your personal information, a learned friend suggested that you purchase from the manufacturer and the 'middleman' like Maplin's, Argos, WH Smith etc will be wiped from the high street. Manufacturer's are falling over themselves trying to get to the consumer and all at the touch of a few keys on your keyboard! You don't even have to buy your item in bulk and their delivery service is scrutinised thoroughly for any errors because they want their customer to return.
