#6
nah ebay is actually very good but the free listing is a joke. every other freakin weekend there is free listing. why not just make it regularly free? do they really think that there bullock marketing strategy is going to work?

Edited By: MikeT on Jun 15, 2011 07:27: no need for name calling. Be civil to members

Never mind Harvey, at least you're an invisible rabbit! Didn't vote either way as I assume you posted with the best of intentions.

Wow what a massive over reaction by some members. If you think the deal is cold just vote. Absolutely no need for some of these nasty posts.

Have some heat from me.

As usual, HUKD'ers are over-reacting for no reason. What I don't get is why they don't post in every deal, since obviously they feel their presence is needed when they aren't interested in THIS deal!

Like others, glad I saw this as it's reminding me to get my finger out and sort out some stuff I want to list on a free day.

OMG why do people get so wound up about Ebay every single time there is a free listing deal posted and who lists an item for sale without checking out how much in fees roughly it will cost,oh dear oh dear.X)
#21
THANKS - Heat added as I love free listing.
#22
£8 final valuation fee on £250 I think you got of lightly I,ll get charged £5.24 on a £50 buy it now, plus 80p listing fee and I linked all my photos to Photobucket to avoid pics fee. Then there's papal, god I hate eBay.
#23
Free listing weekends are ok to post as a deal on this site, as it helps people out.

However, it's not the listing fee which is the problem with eBay. It's the final value and Paypal fees which make people think twice about it.

Ebay is best

You need to know how to PRICE the item.

price you want + 12% ebay fees + 3.5 something paypal

so if you want to have £100 for your item then put it for £120 and you will get your money.

where else do you find so many buyers to bid ?

gumtree is free but then the person come to collect and you have to be there and sometimes even after promise they dont turn up and ruining your whole day plan ?

and to sell £5 item who likes strangers to come in your house to collect ?

amazon charges same if you wish to sell there £17.50 % something! flat no listing fees that's it. and very difficult to list there.
#25
It's always better to list buy it now with offer
#26
Have some heat, and ignore the critics! Gumtree is full of dodgy sellers and common crooks, and these free insertition deals are always useful.
#27
it's a shame you can't use turbo lister...
#28
Perfect for selling old clothes and shoes.

Not a fan of eBay (despite feedback of over 2000 on there....), however thanks to the OP for posting.

Well unlike some of the comments on this thread, I think I'm in a position to actually pass comment on what eBay is like from a sellers perspective....

Sell on ebay and pay huge paypal fees and final value fees but get a higher price and be covered by ebay and get your money paid quickly and 99% of the time people pay.
OR Sell elsewhere with lower/more clear final value fees and get less money because of less visitors.
OR Sell on gumtree/classifieds and risk dodgy people knowing your house or people not turning up.

I'd prefer ebay!

Depends on what you're selling. I now use http://www.discogs.com for selling records/CDs - fees are lower and I get a better price for what I sell. Win Win situation!!
