To combat the credit crunch, Tesco is offering customers great value savings on eyecare. These include coupons for a free sight test in store and £5 off any frame so that customers can have fully dispensed prescription glasses from as little as £15 per pair.
Tesco is also offering 'buy-one-get-one-free' on its great value designer range** if you spend £75 or over on frames. This offer is available from 19 January.
Please note:-
If you are in Scotland - all eye tests are free from all opticians.

Wrong wrong wrong.
Eye tests are only free if you are under 18, or if you or over 40 and have a family member who had or has glaucoma or catteracts.
Otherwise an eye test can cost you up to around £40

Specsavers are (locally) the absolutely terrible for customer service.
I would get a free eye test and then go to your local opticians to get a deal.

Eye tests are free for children up to 16, UNLESS they stay on for further education til 18. I know this because my daughter still gets free eye tests and she is 16, doing A levels. However, none of the kids FREE specs fitted her and she needed to pay for adult ones (with the NHS voucher). My hubby (45) gets free eye test sbecause his mother has glaucoma. By the way it has to an immediate family member (Mother, father etc)
Others who get free eye tests are those on certain benefits (i.e. income support) and OAPs.

This is definitely good
No Tesco's around here have an opticians in them unfortunately.
How many Tesco stores have opticians in them? In the few I've been in up and down the country, I've never seen one in there to be honest.

Or you work for a company that either pays or contributes, or are in receipt of certain benefits.

Probably still going.
OK provided you can deal with pressure sales methods to encourage you to buy.

Not true actually. You need to be on Income Based Job Seekers Allowance to obtain any benefits. If you're on Contribution Based Jobseekers Allowance you get nadda! Nothing! Not even a penny!
Voted hot though and my local Tesco has an opticians which is always empty!

Sainsburys sent me a Nectar coupon (yesterday) for a Free eye Test at D & A plus 100 bonus points. Plus you get 2000 points when you buy a pair of glasses from them, not sure if it's a general circular or restricted to certain locations.
T & C say hand coupon and nectar card to D & A to get free eye test. Offer not transferable. only original coupons will be accepted.
You never know if you've got a nectar card, there might be one on it's way to you

What would a test involve? If it's just reading stuff off a sign then I can leave that but I'd quite like to have a proper eye test to see if I have 20/20 vision. Assuming there is such an eye test? Never been to an opticians.
