This is probably useless to many people but amazing for those it works for.

Basically, if you're a teacher, you can get free entry to any Sea Life Centre in the UK for a year!

Just ring them and ask them for a teacher form. Then return the form with a photo and a letter from your school with letterhead confirming you work there and they send you a pass.

I've got one, went about a month ago.

Oh, and it's not just for one person - it admits up to four - two adults and two children - I went just with my wife.

The same family ticket costs £53 each time you go. Even if you go once, you save £53.

Wow thats brilliant! My husband is a teacher at a college do you think they would include this?!
#2
I should certainly imagine so, he's a teacher isn't he?! It doesn't state school.
#3
He's an art teacher - I bought membership for me and my son which ran out in march so it would be great for us all to go for free- thanks. heat added

Even if you're not a teacher, I would hope HUKDers would recognise this deal as hot as it's good for those that are, even if it doesn't concern you?
#5
Which number do you call, is it one of the sea life centres or the main number for the head office?
#6
Fantastic find - was planning on going there soon. What a bargain!
:thumbsup::thumbsup:
#7
There is a number for their head office (contact us button) on their website.
I wonder if they respond to email? I could email them from my school account. Anybody know?

To be honest, I don't remember where I called but head opffice is probably fine.

but isn't this says:

"We offer free planning visits for teachers to familiarise themselves with our centres and facilities. Simply contact the SEA LIFE centre of your choice to arrange your FREE visit."

If you want to take your 'customers'. Basically lots of attractions would give free entry to teachers - INCLUDING west end shows (saw something about this on a poster. Would they know if you're on a vist for the school...:whistling:...? I'd feel guilty though.
#14
Anyone know if this applies to supply teachers? Obviously they cant give a letter from their school....

It looks like an abuse of the risk assessment system where teachers need to go and do site visits to do risk assessments. That is probably the reason they get free passes.

to me as well unless somebody can prove me wrong on this
#17
Have heard this mentioned before, I think it was something to do with being a member of a particular teacher's union at the time. But I don't understand how a planning visit would allow you unlimited access for a whole year! Definately worth a try though. Will call them tomorrow.
Thanks!
#18
Do you think it would be valid at Chessington World of Adventures? They have the new Sea life there!
#19
Just checked with a friend who now works in Birmingham, she said yep teachers do get free tickets there, and she's been a few times with her children.

The planning assessment is totally different. That is a one off assessment.

This is a totally different thing. They actually have an offer for teachers where it's a free pass. I initially got a form via my school pigeon hole but then I lost it and phoned up for a replacement and got it. It's just a perk of being a teacher.

I can scan my card and show you if you don't believe me!!

As a supply teacher, maybe you could if you could get a letter?!

From my memory, it specifically said teacher. If you're unsure, ring up, get a form and see what it says on it for you. I don't think social workers qualify. This isn't a back-end scam for people to cheat the system, it's for genuine teachers who can produce a school letterheaded letter to confirm their employment in the school.

Just looking at my card.

On the left it says "Teacher's Gold Card". It has the National Sea-Life Birmingham emblem (you have to pick a centre) with a sea turtle picture. Has a photo of me on the front with my name, school name, ID number and valid until date (mine is September 08).

On the back at the top in big letters it says "This Teacher's Pass entitles you to Free Entry for 2 adults & 2 children".

Then it goes onto state a few normal terms and conditions. That is that only valid in Brum, management reserve right to say go away, non-transferable, not with any other offer, must bring the card with you, and what kids are. That's it.

The phone number at the bottom is 0121 643 6777.
#22
When it says valid in UK - does that mean it's not valid in the one in Bray, Ireland?

Anybody?
#23
Nice find
#24
My card didn't say valid in the UK, only valid in Brum as it's the centre I applied for. Apply for the one in Bray, might be ok.

i want to become a teacher so i can get free entrance into Sea Life Center hehehe
#27
sounds good will pass to sis in law shes no kids but she can borrow mine :0)
#28
Superb - Wife is a teacher and this will be great!!

on another note teachers out there - sometimes worth emailing attractions and asking for a free entry. Before the National Railway Museum was free entry (£9 ea) we asked - on the speculation of being on a fact-finding mission for schemes of work - worked a treat!!
#29
No teacher here but added some heat anyway
#30
Well done, this is a good deal, heat and rep added.
