I was flying with them today and read their credit card promotion, whereby if you take out their credit card, following your your 1st purchase you will recieve a 'free flight' to any of their destinations.

Knowing that if it sounds too good, it probably is, I have looked it up. yes there are catches:
1) you have to purchase something on the credit card, ( I dont then consider this free)
2) the flight is free, but you will have to pay taxes, surcharges etc.

I have added the T's + C's below.

However this is a great site to share stuff, and this is an opportunity to reduce the cost of a flight if you were going anyway. If you are, my advice, get the card, buy a stamp, get the so called 'free' flight and then cut up the card.

Hope this helps some of you

I thought I was being completely honest about what the Pro's and cons are. I was just trying to share something that could 'reduce' costs for some people, if you are going to blow it cold, at least say why
Should be useful for some.. thanks for sharing :)

Amended the title a wee bit
i guess theres just no pleasing people, heat from me :)
having checked some but not all flights from Newcastle the taxes/charges are far more than the cost of any flight ticket, I could fly British airways cheaper, not so good deal me thinks.

not voted cold or hot as someone may find a good deal

troubleshooter, you did a good job with your post, and added lots of information to provide a well rounded view of what the offer was.

Potentially great for someone that flies with Flybe a bit, who will collect other points too. I've flown with them and was impressed. Otherwise, someone who may want to switch card companies, and get a flight as a bonus, as they can check total price to pay on taxes etc, before deciding whether to take the offer up.
Problem I've had with them in the past using my airmiles is that taxes and fees somehow make a "free" flight often uneconomic over a competitor.
