Good deal if you are a subscriber or thinking about a new subscription. Heat added.

I saw these headphones on play for 17.99

Cold. The GX200s are incredibly cheaply made, and will fall apart after a few weeks of use. What Hi-Fi is a sucker-trap of lies written by writers who are so blatantly being bribed to write reviews that it's painful to read. Avoid. Or not, and skip to the page of reviews where it discusses how a £20 HDMI cable leaves the video bland and lifeless, while the £160 cable really brings out the depth of the blacks and improves the contrast, and let that convince you of how dishonest What Hi-Fi's writing staff really are.

I did this offer about a year ago and these headphones are really poor in my opinion. Not worth the subscription at all unless you are already going to sign up to What HiFi.

Nick.

I got these last time around - good while they lasted - all of 2 weeks before one 'phone went completely dead.

Completely agree about the mag.

The GX200's aren't too bad but bass is very muddy. Personally I think the now very cheap Sennheiser CX300's are still better.

Innit.

I don't see the Gadget Show often because it tends not to be on when I'm watching TV, but I did catch the episode where they compared an iPod to various other players. The final verdict went pretty much like this:

"So, the Cowon. It plays more file formats, does more stuff, the batteries last longer, the sound quality is higher, it's got more capacity, can do this really cool thing here, and basically, it's great. You can even use it to write notes. But that's too many features we think, so we're going to rate it 3/5, and award 5/5 to the iPod"

Which is either some impressive indoctrination by Apple's marketing department, or the reason the show can do such large prize giveaways.

exactly what happened with mine as well.

I also agree with the negative comments about What HiFi - the level of bias in their articles is just unreal.

I would attribute your headphones lacklustre performance to impurities in the internal wiring of your mp3 player - are you sure the copper on the circuit board is 100% oxygen free? is the headphone ampifier IC in biwired dual mono configuration? and are you sure you didn't connect the headphone cable in the wrong direction .. it must only ever be coiled in a clockwise direction, since anticlockwise headphone cabling coiling could cause undesirable bad karma ..

yes ... VERY what hifi !!!

I'd be interested to see What Hifi's review of these headphones....probably 1/10

Anyone moaning about the mag.... just don't buy it.... Simple as....

Sad people who float around forums re-iterating for the 30th time the same point 29 other people aready made... Go and find some deals!

I got these when it was 3 months subscription for £10. The head phones lasted 2 weeks before the wiring came away from the jack & you couldn't claim under any guarantee. I bought the Shure SE110 for £17.99 (deal on here a month or two ago) & they are so much better.

You don't really get the idea of 'forums', do you? To put it in a cute little nutshell for you, they're an online place for people to talk about things. Part of talking about things involves making points, and then other people agreeing or disagreeing with those points, and expanding on the points with their knowledge or anecdotes or whatever. So, no, they're not sad at all. The one person who I do see as sad is yourself, the one guy saying "Uh lol dont discuss things its sad lol", which is really very, very pointless. The fact that you've only written 30 posts perhaps backs up how vacuous and (literally) pointless a person you are.

Anyway, What Hi Fi gave them 3/5, praising them for being "well built", neatly confirming again how dishonest the publication is.

Lol! At least my post got some banter going on a boring Monday!

I kind of agree about the comments with What Hi Fi but I do like it as a way to see what the new AV tech is like. I always take reviews with a pinch of salt and try to read a few and get user opinions as the main way to see how well it is performing.

I still think this is a hot deal as someone will give me £20 on eBay for the headphones so I will have paid a few quid for the magazine.
