have you been to Pontins?? look at the thread from Saturday i think it was?http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/209983/pontins-tips-please/

I haven't looked at the terms but this sounds like a good deal!

With the amount of c*** we get subjected to both abroad AND in our own country, its nice to get rewarded for it now and again with the likes of this and the Dominoes offer. No pay doesn't constitute a reward....wanna debate that one, take a look at our pay scales!

Anyway, heat added, thanks for the heads up!

After seeing some of the pics showing the state of forces accomodation in the papers and on TV it looks like they live in Pontins chalets all the time.

Pontins are going to do well out of here, bet it will only be certain times when they are empty and the amount of booze the Forces drink Pontins is a win win.

I never said that. They are men following orders.

They are however fighting in wars that we have no place being involved in.

I mean tell me, why are we in Afghanistan exactly?

Voted hot for me with a well done to Pontins. Would be nice to see others follow suit.

You forgot 911.

OOPS that was not us but the US.

People join the army and have to take orders, I would not call anyone that is fighting in Iraq fools because they are only doing a job that they have been told to do.

But ALSO tell me what do people join the army for if not to become soldiers?
And WHAT do soldiers do?
Certainly NOT sit around their barracks playing pool all day or parading up & down the square.
#23
The last time i was at Pontins Blackpool......the amount of scrapping that went on with some of the locals with the holiday makers was unbelievable .......if its not changed the lads and lasses fightin over in these god forsaken areas would be as well stayin put.......

Perhaps the consensus is that they believe our Government would only entrench themselves in wars where there was a noble and just cause to get involved.
#26
I think what he's trying to say is that you are a fool to even think about joining the army, navy etc knowing that you will be "told" where to go and who to kill by lying deceiptful polititions.
#27
heroes:shock:

depends on your definition of the word hero??!!
#28
Well done pontins
#29
I started reading the offer and thought what a nice gesture...and then realised it was at a Pontins open prison camp - oh dear.
Voted cold as Pontins are hell on earth.
#30
I for one would be interested in what gogboy's perspective on this was. With 2 brothers and other family members that have fought on many front lines I am inclined to take offence at this and think gogboy should clarify their position. I and all my family don't believe our forces should be over there either. Let's hope people remember that at the next general election!
#31
"next general election!"

To be honest i don't believe that either of the two big party's behave or would behave any differently! Too busy buying kitchens in John Lewis at our expense to worry about human life! Maybe they should forced on the front lines!
#32
they deserve it every single one of them take care you are in my thoughts :)

Which isn't exactly their fault. Last time I looked into these things, soldiers weren't allowed to choose where to go off and fight - otherwise I'd imagine we'd have a lot more 'peace-keeping operations' in Hawaii. ;)

So, this addresses half of the issue. Maybe next someone will arrange some free self-catering accomodation in sunny downtown Baghdad for the people who did decide to send them there under false pretences. :whistling:
#34
For those who want to turn a deals thread into a political argument. Lets just leave it as a gesture on the part of a company that actually shows support for the troops. Right or wrong, they do a bloody good job wherever they are sent to work and deserve respect. Heat added.

Why do they deserve offers and other people dont?
People say they deserve respect for all that the do, etc etc, IT'S THEIR JOB!!

When they signed up for it they knew what they were doing, and they knew what pay they were getting, they deserve exactly the same as everyone else in this country.
banned#37
Yeah, that'll make the sites enjoyable for everyone else wont it? Having a horde of drunken forces loonies charging round the site?

Yes, I was in the RAF and know what they're like.
#38
c'mon - i thought this place was free of politics - enough! Adding the word heroes on the title of the offer wasn't needed imo....we can all agree they're soldiers at least.

Military personnel are deployed at the behest of the government of the day. Hope those who are posting criticism of the Armed Forces are watching the news regularly and seeing what is going on.

I'm ex forces and hope the critics sleep well at night. That pleasure is earned or has been earned the hard way by several generations doing the job you are now critical of.

People join the forces for many reasons - economics, boyhood dream, vocation, family tradition etc. They don't pick their conflicts but will always try and do their best in the areas and situations they find themselves in.

Bit over the top in my opinion but at least the US respect and appreciate what their service personnel do on their behalf. If only a few more people in the UK had a similar sort of respect then at least the sacrifices may feel in some way a bit more justified.

Thanks for the post OP. Have also posted on a mil based website so those who may wish to take advantage can apply if they wish.

And the same can be said of Policemen, Firemen, Ambulance drivers & so on and they all put themselves in danger on an everyday basis.

I too am ex forces and another (Huge) reason that people join the Army is because they can't fit in on civvy street and can't get a job that pays well.

Also a lot of squaddies only join so that they can travel the world since the adverts for the Army glorify the job that way.
