24 Month Contract

Rang T-Mobile to get the £5 a month deal posted earlier for my daughter and ended up getting the above deal for my wife.

I just enquired to the best deal on the HTC. First thay said £57 for phone then £17 but I eventually got it for free.

It would seem you can get pretty much what you want at the minute from T-Mobile ;-)

The new HTC phones are out at the end of the month, you'd have to be mental to sign a 2 year deal in the next few weeks.

The Hero is a great phone, had mine since late summer. Good choice!
#3

No sensible - why pay an extra (at least £15 per month) for THE latest phone which wont be too different to this one?

The mental ones are the ones who buy the new tech at the highest price! IMO:thumbsup:

Go for the HTC Desire which is out next month. £20 a month for 300 mins, 300 texts and unlimited internet. Miles better phone than the Hero - which I have 1 yr left on my contract :-(

Edit - Sorry... £60 for the phone as well.. Still not a bad price for a sh*t hot phone

or check out the legend if you dont like the desire htc seem to have their finger on the pulse at the moment

This:thumbsup:

The Hero is a great phone, but it's slightly underpowered.

Better to get a simplicity contract and buy sim-free.

Aren't orange being purchased by T-Mobile? read that the EC had agreed for them to be bought out.
#14
Im on simplicity 600mins / 1000 texts per month for £13 or so (friends and family discount). Was thinking of changing to T-Mobile business which is unlimited mobiles and landlines for £24 a month and a choice of about 5 or 6 phones, one of which is this one. I use the 600 mins no prob now I'm self employed.

If you can wait a month the Desire and Legend look like the will be coming to pretty much all the networks and the ensuing price war can only be good for the consumer. Mobile phones direct have the desire on pre-order with the same tariff as this for £60 for the phone.

I like my 12 month contract - t-mobile let me change my phone every 11 months - i have just got a blackberry bold 9700 - great phone
#18
can anyone tell me if these htc phones can be unlocked, or if tmobile has roaming plans in other countries? I just moved to UK from US and will spend about a month in Switzerland this summer (as well as travel to FR and IT)
#19
This phone is available direct from the website for only £91 on a £15 a month contract so if you can pay more up front you will save £30 over the 2 years plus possible quidco/topcashback.

Not really, not for £20 quid a month with unlimited internet! the new phones will be at new phone prices, ie £35 a month! Plus the Hero is an awesome phone.

I have an HTC Hero.

I wasn't 'into' phones but I can justify the entire expense against my yearly profits now.

Got to say it's a superb piece of kit.

The HTC Hero is easy to unlock so long as you pay for a code online (about a tenner when I did mine a little while ago)

Any phone with Windows on it might aswell be put in the bin.. Its a complete joke.. I have yet to see one which works fine. I have had the Vario II, III & now the touch plus all provided via work and they are rubbish.. If i had to pay for a phone i would go for the Iphone over anything to be honest.

I am just glad i dont have to pay for the phone provided to me..

Other way round.

Friend works for T-Mobile and just got me the friends and relations deal on this phone on an 18 month contract, £15 pm should have been £30. Very good phone, but then I'm new to this "smart" phone gadgetry, suits my simple mind.

Once the G2 touch get the Android 2.1 update it will be pretty much the same as the new phones coming out soon anyway they may just have more hardware features and be a bit faster that’s all.

Is it confirmed that the 'Hero' will/can be updated. I am tempted as I am out of contract at the minute, but on line the free hero is shown as being £25 a month.

True. It was first noted when the new T-mobile tariffs with free Internet for Android phones came in. You can have £35 cashback and order online or phone up and haggle a £40-50 discount on the phone (priced £91) there and then. The tariff is the same as this offer but only £15 a month! Thus, a potential £50-£60 saving over the 24 months (and cash saving rather than Amazon voucher).

More likely their will be a price FIX than price war, as with the iphone! scandalous!

Appreciate that, thanks.

Seems a Hero is the phone for me.

EDIT: Just rang T mobile about this deal. Very nice chap, deal is as described other than they will not budge on the £17 up front for the phone. He would give nothing away about the Desire.

Anyone know if the camera on a Hero is any good? It put me off as there is no flash (should have looked into this before ringing)

No, it's the other way around. At present T-mobile don't even have their own masts & piggy-back their signal on Orange's anyway. (3 & O2 have the same relationship) That's why T-mobile & 3 get poorer reception & more dropped calls. When it gets busy they get less bandwidth for their customers. I guess that won't be the same for T-Mobile once tehy're bought over.

i think i know what this means so what network do you recomend? i live in a place that all the networks cove and all say that i get realy good reception my mother is on orange and has to walk to the end of the drive for a signal i have tesco and have to stand in the kitchen, my sister is on T mobile and she can get a signal sometimes

If the new HTCs are still using Android and still have the Sense UI, which the Hero has, and (I'm not sure about this) the same processor too, surely it's not worth paying more for what will be a cosmetic difference?

Watch out if you rely on a good camera - this is the weak point on the Hero. Poor in low light and very slow shutter speed meaning blurry pics are c ommon. There are some apps which improve it but many are hoping that 2.1 (in April for T-Mobile customers) will include an update for the camera.
