I called up Three as I was due an upgrade. I mentioned the T-Mobile deal for the Hero which DanHandy posted on here (£22.50/month), but I said that T-Mobile had offered it to me over the phone. I was already paying a reduced line rental as Ive been with them for years i.e. £12.50 for 500 mins & 100 texts. He said he could add on 1GB internet for £5 bringing the total cost to £17.51 (I dont know where the rogue 1p came from, but didnt argue!). He also offered me an extra 1000 texts for £5 but I declined.
Definitely worth trying the haggle, especially if they think youre going to change network!

3 Customer Care Line: 0843 373 3333 or 333 from your 3 mobile

Please note this offer may only be eligible for upgrade customers, but please dont vote cold just because youre not already with 3.

Was looking at getting one of these to replace the iphone didn't realise i got get a contract so cheap.
#3
All you need now is a signal to use it !!!!!!!!!!!:w00t:

Nice one. I'm also getting a discount on the 500 mins 100tx tarriff but took the Nokia 5800 as the Hero was not yet announced when I took my upgrade. Serves me right for upgrading several months early when I should have waited. :x

lol. I actually find the Three signal to be very good wherever I am. Historically they've had a bad rep, but they've improved A LOT over the years.
#6
Three signal has improved I agree. A few months back was really poor where I live (they use Orange when their signal is not good), so it was very bad for me. But now it's been 2 months that is perfect.

I think this is not deal though, but specific to the person.

In fairness mate, **** happens, You can wait your whole life for deals but you never know when they'll come up unless you have some great insiders=p. Like for example, I got my 360 from amazon, Day later the Argos deal with 3 games + controller comes up.

Im also looking for a phone atm, might give 3 a call on this.

Would be great if you could put the phone number you called in too,

@Sconto You may be right, but I decided to post it purely to show people what is possible to get out of three if you try. They may offer people slightly different variations, but it goes to show that their price floor for this mobile is lower than you would think, considering that their advertised contract for the hero is £35/ month over 24 months = £840. My total cost will be £315!! Even if you end paying £100 more, you'd still be doing well!

Says it all really.

Thanks, will try this, as just canceled 3 contract might be possible.

As this works out cheaper then sim free.
#11
Indeed, thanks Senses! BTW phone number aded to the deal

Can someone comment how good the Windows Live and Skype clients are on this phone?
#13
I am on the same deal, but paying £20 per month on N95 8GB 12 Month contract.

Its up for renewal but they are being very tight this time round. I might call again i think mentioning this deal. I wouldn't mind going on a 18 month for this phone.

Also the signal has got much much better recently, its actually excellent wherever i am now.
#14
I'm a bit of a noob on here. I thought I'd posted it under the 'Mobiles' category. Anyone know why it's not showing up in the right section?
#15
Cracking deal, my contract isn't up for another 4 months though :-(

i use windows live and its faultless, i didnt have much success with skpe but it may be just the app hasnt been improved yet. there are lots of other alternatives on market.

Yea it is, Just under the "New" section.

I gave them a call, Guy was a bit of a ****, basicaly just said this:
http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=24TI35D032&id=1394

At the moment it just sucks Im on o2, Possibly the shittest selection of new phones atm, Yea their Sim only things are okay, but yea, I need a new phone.
#18
Problem is I want to leave three but you need to have an hour long argument with them about it!!!

"Sir, the iPhone is not a good phone... have you tried the Nokia N97?"

Still... good haggling!
#19
I've heard an unconfirmed rumor that the Iphone is actually available unofficially on three to 'Premium' upgrade customers (whatever that means). Read post#34 on the following link:
http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=85184&page=2

Personally I would prefer to have the hero any day. Android beats the pants off iPhone OS imho. Plus HTC will be releasing an Android 2.0 update with sense UI for the Hero soon :)
#20
No luck for me.

My contact was closed less then a month ago though, so not a current customer.
#21
will phone up and try to get this deal as my contract was up in july. at the time they offered less mins for more money with a se w595 so thought i'd just stick with my beloved k800 and £10 500mins/100txts. this looks good though.
#22
Even if this is a person specific deal, there is a lesson in there somewhere. So heat added.
#23
3 would not offer me anything when I called today about the Hero.
I could have it for £35 a month. I was told that is all they offer.
Bought from T-Mobile for 5x£22.50 and 13 x £25.
#24
Wish I was on three and could try and get this, my contract has just expired on an N82 at Orange and they have no phones I'm interested in, this always seems to happen when my contract expires :(

There signal is just as good as any othe network!

Can't comment on deal but can say excellent Phone, but camera really poor. I had a Nokia N95 8gb before this HTC and there is no comparison.

Nokia was good enough not to need to take out a "proper" digital camera.

This has no flash and can not handle any movement at all, useless in most situations.

Unless anyone has any tips / other camera apps to recommend.

don't get the HERO phone. I have had one since it came out. The processor is too slow and it gets stuck when I'm reading text messages etc. Wait for the next version. This one will slow down after a month.
#28
had this phone 6 weeks, its fantastic the only phone that can realisticly take on the Iponce.

I'm sure I read that 3 are offering free premium spotify accounts for the length of the contract with this phone.

Ignore that! turns out its if you get 24 month contract and pay 100 quid upfront for the phone. might be worth enquiring about but I doubt they'd throw that in to.
#32
1gb data allowance is a bit crap though.
#33
Three offered me 300 mix and match, 18 month contract for £4.89 a month and a free phone. I declined and switched to 02, awful network!
#34
To be honest most signal related complaints from Three customers are, as in my case, the fault of Orange. Three handle their own 3G network but fall back on Orange for calls/data outside of 3G areas (i.e. 2G). In my case Orange simply have no signal (inside), I can't blame Three for that.
#35
I called up three last week and they virtually refused to even offer me the HTC hero and tried to fog off the W995 to me. My account wasnt good enough.

Dont let them tell you its not in stock as the traditional stores have them in stock, They all come with spotify on a 24 month contract. Not sure why they are also charging £100 just to get the phone!

24 month contracts are a pain.

I would agree a price with T mobile/Vodafone or orange and ring Three to cancel contract. when Three sales person offers you another phone say you have already agreed a contract elsewhere. Saves you wasting 40 mins on phone to them!!!

I do believe all this haggling over price of mobiles over the phone is getting silly. You dont ring up HMV and ask them to knock off 20% off a cd before you buy. Same for electrical equipment. You look online for best deal and buy.

Mobile phone operators sales departments in my view are the most untrusted sales people in the world.

If only mobile phone companies were run at best prices. Then everyone wouldnt need to switch mobile companies each 16-18 months and waste hours trying to haggle on price over the phone. Offer your best price to begin with. If people dont like that let them leave.

|Why is this the best phone ever?

I have an iphone and will be upgrading to the 3gs anyone have any reasons why i shouldn't?

Best Phone Ever !!

And worst Network ever :))

I was trying to upgrade this week. I currently pay £24 for 750mins, 150txts, 50mins video calls, 50 video messages, £5 downloads. They said I could have the Hero, but only for £80. They originally offered £88, so I suppose I got some type of discount! I needed to add internet, so that would be £29 for the monthly cost. No luck on switching to mix and match. I was upgrading my wife's contract at the same time, and they wouldn't budge on the contract cost of the Satio.

The Hero is much better value on T-Mobile as the handset is free for a similar price.

I did exactly the same as you, upgraded to a Nokia 5800 3months before my contract was out. Hate the phone! I normally love Nokia's but so disappointed with this. Just bought a HTC Hero and will put my current orange sim in it. Orange wouldn't allow me to change my contract or upgrade my phone at all to get the Hero so I've had to buy it outright. Well annoyed with Orange, won't be renewing with them after this.
