IKEA have recently changed the sizes of their cots.
They no longer sell mattresses to fit their 'old size' cots.

Because of this, parents who want to buy a new mattress for their old cot are being offered a great deal - take along your old IKEA cot ... in any condition ... and they will swap it like-for-like for a brand new cot.

The only downer is that you have to buy a mattress for the new cot ... but then, you'd need to be buying one anyone, so it's not much of a problem.

Great deal, IMO !

I have just asked on their live assistant, and this is true. You just take the frame to the store and they will give you a new one, providing you buy the mattress.

Just checked their range of cots, not sure how they can swap like for like as my cot was around the £100 mark, with solid wood ends, they have nothing like that anymore.

Hi, when I bought a cot recently it only cost about £30. I'm not sure if they limit you to one similar.

Um, do you have to have the receipt for the cot? a friend of a friend (yes honestly lol) bought an ikea cot off ebay a few weeks ago, was gonna head to ikea for a new mattress, in theory could she take the cot with her and end up with a nice new shiny one?

Yup, your could absolutely do this,
You need no proof of purchase, just take along the old cot, and they will replace it with the one that nearest matches from their current range.

I'd suggest checking stock of the cot she likes/thinks she'll be offered, and also mattresses, before she goes to avoid a wasted trip.

If she signs up for the family card and goes on monday-friday, they'll even give her a free cup of coffee with the free cot

heat added thats pretty fab of them. most companies would bother with the customers who already spent out with them in previous years.

just to update ... this offer is still on, and IKEA say that they have no plans to end it any time soon :-)
#20
Just to re-update... Swapped our old cot earlier this year, no problems at all.

Thanks melissab :-D

Why is this expired? Heat added!

Hey brilliant to hear this is still going ! Thanks for the update skynet :)
perhaps a mod could unexpire it ... ?
#23
For future reference in case anyone is viewing this thread having come from Google. I phoned IKEA today to enquire about this as I have an old cot which I needed a new mattress for. They're no longer swapping them out for new cots, so this is best left expired.

Really old thread I know but has anyone done this recently? Just bought Ikea cot on eBay, bought mattress from Ikea and it doesn't fit :-o
