I have just upgraded to O2 35 on an 18 month contract and got the iPhone 3GS (16GB) for FREE!!

600 UK minutes and 500 UK texts each month
Unlimited data and Wi-Fi (worth £15 a month)
Unlimited visual voicemail
Cheaper roaming rates with International Traveller Service (ITS)
Free itemised online billing

I called O2 cancellations on 08706003009 and told them that I was moving over to Vodafone. She asked what she could do to retain my custom so I asked for the above deal and I got it!

I know this kind of deal is hit and miss but it worked for me.

Give them a call and good luck.

Why is this being voted cold??
#2
What's your contract now? How many minutes are you getting now, and how many were you on etc.

How long were you with O2 for?

Doesn't take a genius to figure out why it's cold.
:santa:

I was on 800 mins with unlimited texts, paying £20PM. I was on their Simplicity tariff which meant I only had to give O2 30 days notice. I will now be getting 600 mins and 500 texts with Unlimited Internet for £34.26PM.
#5
02 website, Orange and Vodafone are asking for £184 for the phone on an 18 month contract so how can this be a bad deal?
#6
good deal - this is what i intend to do (as long as O2 sort their network out)

Some people dislike the iphone hence the cold votes - each to their own.

So your saying you left a '800 mins with unlimited texts, paying £20PM' TO PAY MORE MONEY, LESS MINS, LESS TEXT '600 mins and 500 texts £34.26PM'?:?:?

I wouldnt consider that to be much of a bargain.:?

This is not a NEW deal, its been around for a while. However this can be a good deal for some, but not all.
#8
You have just paid £256 for this phone? (18 x monthly difference) and you have less call time and texts?
#9
o2 do this all the time, i went to cancel my contract last yr, and they told me i was a top priority customer as i spend quite alot, they said i was entitled to a 40% discount every month on my line rental, and i also got an extra bolt on added, funny that they never tell you until you plan to leave.
#10
600 mins and 500 texts is enough for me. It was a good deal for me as I wanted the iPhone on contract but did not want to pay any extra for it. I am surprised that this deal has been around for a while. I have tried to get the same deal several times in the past 9 months but had no joy.
#11
Nowadays a phone is not just about texts and talktime. The apps on the iPhone an be really useful plus it's an ipod touch too.
#12
To get an iPhone for free. Even if it's an upgrade and paying more. I think thats a deal. The cheap tariffs are phone less. So I'll vote hot as your getting a dam good phone. I'd take that this deal anytime. If I wasn't tied into Vodafone.

Theres nothing like an eduacated and unbiased opinion:-D.

You cant class this as a deal beacause it's simply pot luck wether you get offered it.
Might be best posting it on hotuktombolas.co.uk

iPhone off contract £440 + £352.44(18 months x £19.58 for 600 mins +500 txts) = £792.44.

I'll be paying £34.26 x 18 months = £616.68.

So the way I see it, I'm £175.76 better off and I'm getting the phone I want.

True - you can only get this deal after being with O2 for a while. Luckily i'll be in that boat in a couple of months but understand that no everyone will.

Still though, not heard of other companies giving a free 3GS, My sister's on orange and recently upgraded but still had to pay.
#16
I agree there's two ways to look at it. I have voted hot but don't agree that you are getting a free iphone - Apple and 02 are not that charitable?
#17
good deal will try and get this as I don't want to pay for the phone and 18 month contrqact better thqn 24 month thanks.
#18
Aye, its a half decent deal i reckon.

Ok, yeah you were on the simplicity one, but if thats the phone you want, then its worth fighting with o2 to get a good deal.

I got a Nokia 5800 back in April for free with 1000 texts and 800mins with unlimited internet for £19.99 a month. The deal is only specific for those who try and get a good deal.

Well done for you to get the phone for free but the reason it will be voted cold, or not voted on is because its only really specific to you. Well done though! :)

hi just a bit of info for people already with an iphone and are due for up grade i have been to a couple of o2 shops and discussed what the 3gs has to offer on top of what my 3g does now basically a little bit more video camera, voice control, and a little bit faster processor.
well to me getting tied in for another 18-24 month contract just for that didnt seem worth it,
xxxx amount of pounds for the phone plus 35 quid amonth for video or even if i got the phone for free still 35 a month for a video camera that ive lasted the last 18 months without.
currently im on the 35 a month contract 600 mins 500 text unlimited internet and unlimited wifi.
both shops i went into agreed it would not be worth upgrading and both shops reckon there is going to be a new iphone out within the next 6 months.
got home called o2 customer services and asked about the 20 quid simplicity plan explained that i did not want to upgrade for reasons above then they told me they are now doing a iphone only simplicity plan,

600 mins
1200 texts
unlimited internet and wifi
£20 quid a month 30 days notice

so thats what ive gone with everything i have now but an extra 700 texts and saved myself 15 quid a month. both shops never told me about this i have not seen them advertise this so i thought anybody who doesnt want to bother upgrading might want to know hope this helps some of you.

Think this is a good deal as your happy with your network, have a free iphone at a price that suits you...

What do people think of the Tesco offer, 16gb 3gs £320 upfront + £20pm on a 12 month contract... £560 aint bad for phone and a years callin plan....

Not bad - but works out about a bit more expensive as another 6months at £20 equals to £680 over 18 months whereas my deal equals to £616.68 over 18 months. (12 months = £420) But I suppose it's a good deal if you only want a 12 month contract.
#27
I have heard of lots of people getting this from O2 recently but with refurbs/openbox/14day etc etc iphones. Not such a deal if you get a second hand 3GS
#28
i posted this deal earlier but i managed to get the 32gb iphone 3gs, you should be able to get that free too if you're eligible for the 16gb

About two months ago, O2 gave me a free early upgrade to a 32gb 3gs, 6 months early from the end of my contract.

HOWEVER, when I called back to confirm if I had got the deal right, I ended up speaking to the most worthless piece of garbage, thug wannabe loser, who acted like the scum you would see hanging outside supermarkets in council eatstes built around them.

Got the phone, sent it back. Not interested in signing up to another 18 months with a company that hires such trash of the human genome that needs to be taken out of humanity, chained up and thrown into the ocean.

Will probably get one of those £45 a month, no contract, 2000 minute, unlimited landline and text deals once this contract with o2 ends and use it on the unlocked iphone.

Not voting though, but just exchanging my experience so people know there really IS a reason O2 customer service has such a bad name.
#30
I'm with o2 aswell, I got a free upgrade to an iphone.

I've been with o2 for 3 years now, I got 800 mins, unlimited text, unlimited wifi internet plus a free iphone.

I'm paying £23.40p per month inc VAT.this is on a 18 month contract.
#31
I mainly use my phone to text and call if i want to go on the internet i use a pc or laptop.
I just dont see the point of trying to view webpages and write emails on something so small
#32
See i have this dilemma too, i want the iphone, stunning phone!
BUT
When your used to getting 800 mins 1000 txts free 02 to 02 calls and unlimted net access for £20 p/month, £35 is a bit steep for less mins n txts p month.
Suppose if your desperate enough for the iphone, you will pay this, you see i got the above deal down from £30 p month and also got the net and 02 to 02 bolt on thrown in for staying with 02, because i kept my same phone also got £130 credit.
However the iphone may be giving for free just now, but they wont budge on the £35 p month contracts set out by apple.
Could you imagne even 5-10 years ago someone saying you'll be paying £35 a month for a mobile phone, what did we do before with all this money LOL?
#33
The new vodafone tariffs are really competative, and thats standard rates, so if your with voda already im sure you could get a decent deal when upgrading.

Im on the tesco tariff, but im on the staff contract, only £20 per month for 12 months, get £90 credit each month to use however. The phone did cost me but i got 10% off, so wasnt too bad, compared to standard orange tariffs which are rediculous.
#34
likewise herby, i can bring myself to pay that much as much as i want one. im thinking i have a decent phone already, may use new contract to see if i can get a free console deal or something else.
#35
It's true that this is THE phone - all the others are iPhone wannabes. However, if you are prepared to wait until early summer June/July then an all-new iPhone is due out which will significantly improve upon the existing 3GS with the v4.0 OS...;-)

it was cool about a year and a bit ago but the design is so boring now and other phones feel nicer. It's not worth getting tied into a long contract because it'll be getting a major upgrade in 6 months.
#38
Hi all, Happy new year :) Im on voda and able to upgrade on the 25th jan.Vodafone customer's can preorder for the 14th and as an added perk if you do preorder they are offering free voda-voda call's for the duration of the contract (18/24 month's).This is on all price plan's.Without speaking direct with them the only way they offer a free phone is on a £75 a month contract:w00t:

This was bassed on the 32gig 3gs not sure the price's for the 16gig 3gs but guess it will be cheaper.Bassically though it is clear all the phone company's are willing to do deal's to retain customer's. As the phrase goes if you dont ,ask you dont get so i will be aiming high when i give them the call.

Before you make any call's i would do your homework on all current tarrif's and offer's as they are sure to check everything you say too them. Anyhow good luck to all with getting a good deal.

Black or white ipone what is your choice? im going for the black 32gig

BTW don't forget the £10 topup required before u can have the pay n go phone, so its £792.44+£10.00 = £802.44
