Note that you have to MANDATE your salary into the account. This means you can't just pay in £1,500 by cheque two months in a row, then close the account. This means you will probably have to move ALL your standing orders and direct debits if you want to make sure they don't get missed. Not sure it's worth it for a £99 ipod.

T&Cs have now changed, see website. You have to demonstrate 'active use' of the account for a period of 6 months, otherwise they can ask for you to pay for the ipod. That is, have at least 2 SOs or DDs from the account, every month, for 6 months.

I applied a fortnight ago (no DDs come from my account except phone bill, hence no big issue having another account for me), so I called to cancel application..

The new accounts lady assured me that I was covered by 1 condition -- salary payment only. So, for those of us lucky to have got in while this was the only condition, lucky us. For others thinking about this offer for 'a quick'n'free ipod', forget it..

Thanks polak for the feedback.

Just got an email from quidco quidblog about this......you can get a fantastic £50 cashback.:shock:
September 26th, 2006 This looks to be one of the best banking offers we have on Quidco right now. If you open a Citibank Sterling Current Account you will get £50 Quidco cashback on acceptance plus if you pay in your salary you will get a 1GB iPod nano from Citibank. Here’s the details from the Citibank site, act quick though as this ends September 30th!
How to get your 1GB iPod® nano*!

Citi T&C
Only one offer per person, who must be aged 18 years or over and resident in the UK. Requires a regular salary of over £1,500 per month to be paid into the account for at least two months. Once the account qualifies the primary account holder will be contacted with instructions on how to receive their free iPod® nano. The iPod® nano will be dispatched to the account holder's primary address only. This offer is for a 1GB, black iPod® nano only, no other makes or models will be supplied. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional offer, and is only available to new customers of Citibank who open a Sterling Current Account during the promotional period. For joint account holders, this offer is available for the primary applicant only, once their regular salary has been mandated into the account and following the second salary credit.

Just bare the above in mind.

The only stipulation apart from the Salary thing is that you have to set up 2 DD or standing orders to qualify.Methinks you could the have your salary paid in (which in my case would be the 24th of the month and set up a couple of standing orders on the same day (or i day later to be safe) to move the whole amount to your regular account.Things would then be as normal with your regular account in 3-4 days after the transfer of funds.Just a thought.:)

I took out the offer on the 13th July, when this deal was first posted, and the only stipulation was the payment of 2 salaries into this account (2 SO/DDs was not on the T&Cs at the time).

Anyway, my second salary went in and I called asking for my Ipod... the call centre girl asked when I opened the account, to which I replied the 13th July, when the first £1 cheque went in. She then replied that this 'Free ipod' offer only began on the 21st July!!

I'm now debating the toss with them, but the offer was definitely on their internet site when I opened up the account (in fact it was the only reason I opened up the account in the first place..)

I think a strongly worded email or phone call is in order here.Tell them if they are going to accuse you of lying that you will close your account and go elsewhere.It's no skin of your nose to close as they will be the ones who will lose out financially.:)

I deal with Citibank in another country where nothing else works other than harsh words. But in UK, my experience is very positive.

Edit: Thanks Bazr for the Quidco tip :thumbsup:

Sorry, I never did this one so don't have any or I would have shared them.

Started on the 21st July eh..... so I guess the OP had some sort of premonition on 06-07-2006, 13:42. That sucks.

I've gone for this deal and will do similar to as suggested above - no great hardship.

Hah good point thepearce! polak you could try showing them the thread although I don't think that will help much. Do use it as assurance that you are right though and push that to the highest levels there.

hi fellas,

sorry to bring this post back from ancient time. however, just want to see how are the people doing who applied for this account?

i applied on 30/09/2006 via quidco. therefore am qualified for the iPod nano and £50 QuidCo cashback.

got a £1 tracked QC transaction later turned into paid, without going to the full amount of £50;
subsequently make an enquiry to QC regarding the missing amount, status at 'sent to merchant', nothing happened since;
just collected my iPod nano few days ago from a branch after a hassle chase.

really disappointed with Citibank, and the QC tracking also QC is not helpful in chasing the missing payment.

i am just curious to know how others are doing, please share your experience, thanks.

I got the Quidco payment without any chasing
The nano arrived just before Xmas
I am annoyed about the changes that they are making to the account - to introduce a £10 monthly fee from 1st April - unless I want to drop down to the alternative current account - so I may be leaving citibank.
