this isn't a new deal - they've had this offer for new customers for ages.

and if you paid the £210 into your sky account, it would only cover the first 9 and a half month's worth of payments so you're still paying full price for the remaining contract length.

you would be better getting a friend to recommend you and then you get £125 mastercard for you and them.give them £25 or so and get their card so then you have £225 instead and buy yourself a decent telly as the ones they give are rubbish.i do this every year by cancelling and sign up as new customer using partners name and my own.althou this is the first year i have seen it change to 18 months because it is sky q now and i think it will put alot of people off as it does me.and i recommended a friend about a month ago and both prepaid cards came within 3 weeks of them signing up.

also i have seen in the past year i have seen alot of people getting turned down because of quidco and topcashback so do not rely on it.

Sky sent us notification of a price increase today..dont know how they can justify a 10% increase as I dont have Sports or Movies.

Are they not meant to inform you of your right to cancel due to their price increases?

Time to hunt for an alternative...

Don't go for the free TV it is not very good go for the £100 and put it towards a better TV instead. I have the "free TV " and just use it as a monitor for my server.

Left Sky last year, but like a clingy ex they keep contacting me. Last offer was £9pm for basic, then 60% off any packages.
They can still poke it, I have got over the withdrawal symptoms and no longer need any more Sky fixes from the entertainment crack merchants.

no it is in the terms and conditions that they reserve the right to increase prices by upto 10% or less and you cannot leave penalty free.
in here is part from terms
Under your Sky TV contract, we won’t charge you for any price increases in the first 60 days of your subscription.

During the minimum term of your contract, we also commit to not increasing the standard price of your Sky TV package price more than once in any 12 month period, or increasing the standard price of your Sky TV package price by more than 10%.

How do you refer a friend online?
if you registered on sky.com log in and hover over shop but do not click on it and then it is under offers 3rd coloum over click on introduce a friend. then type in the name and email address of your friend and send and thats it.
note
make sure your friend clicks on the link in the email that you have requested to be sent to them and only do so if they are going to check out straight away and not tomorrow etc ans this will make the ref code to be invalid later and they will turn it down but other than that it is really quick on sending reward out.
friend (new customer) can claim their reward 24 hours after install but you cannot claim until they make their first payment which is usually 14 days after install date for your friend.
but lately when your friend claims then that triggers your reward to sent sent as well althou no guarantee this will be the case.
