Am i missing something or how are you online with out either bt line or virgin line. Unless you are using a wireless internet dongle but then surely your paying for that anyway.
#3
and how clear are the calls?

Do you notice any deterioration or echo?

Is this the same as SKYPE and will an ordinary skype phone work or will this phone work with skype.
#4
probably worth mentioning that this service requires an active broadband connection.
#5
Can't see how you can get free line rental.

Reckon if an offer's too good to be true then it is exactly that.

yes we have a Virgin Broadband connection & also have one at our Business Unit (Don't Tell Tesco) & piggyback of an unsecured wireless connection

Yes on PAYG you get Free calls to Tesco Internet phone no matter where in the world it is & Charged for any Landline calls

How exactly can you have a broadband without paying line rental?
#10
good price compared to Vonage and other VOIP providers, although inclusive features of Tesco phone may not be as comprehensive.
#11
I won one of the Ethernet Tesco Internet Phone black boxes (ie white/blue) to connect into ones broadband router - have to say if it was free I wouldn't want to use it - poor call quality & costly!

Checkout VoIP products by Betamax such as Internetcalls or JustVoIP (depending on your UK mobile usage) instead - been using for 2+ years.

Virgin media Broadband uses fibre optic cable throughout the network & then coaxial cable from the local street box to our house & doesn't rely on a phone line like BT hence how they're able to offer 50mb

Virgin cable broadband, for example.

yes but they dont allow cable without an active telephone line. I asked a few times about this and they stated this to me.

How much are you paying for just the BB line and what speed?
#18
It's false economy as by cutting out any of the 3 servives Virgin offers they up the charges on what you have left. We end up having a Virgin phone line that we dont even connect a phone in to just to keep the broadband and tv price down.

I have one of these, well to be exact the siemens phone on Tesco. Not bad as you get a free number so dont need a landline however it can be a pain.

Bad points
Sometimes does not connect.
When phone rings you have to be quick to answer it or it goes direct to answer phone.
Doesnt always show caller ID even though it should.
When checking to see who rang it says number not available even though I could see the number on the screen as it got to it.
When it goes to answer phone it gives off the full number inc country code and this puts off callers as they think its the wrong number.

Good points
No charge for Free phone numbers
Free number

I dont use this particular phone. I use my bog standard wallphone that cost me £3 from Argos and it plugs into my Tesco adaptor.

I used to use Virgin landline and over the year the line rental was around £150 alone, calls were aorund another £100 a year in total, so about £250 overall or whereabouts.

I changed over to using the Tesco Internet Phone data system and for the past year or so, I dont pay anything for line rental and I put £25 on my account and I still have £20 left!.....people can still dial my number and the call quality is more than satisfactory.

dont judge the phone network based on the use of a phone, if the phone is carp then its the phone thats carp, not the network. I've used my £3 wall phone with the Tesco Internet Phone system and I have used it via my bluetooth headset connected to the PC using the software.....both are equally as good.

Would highly recommend it to people. :-D

I wouldnt say its free as I pay £15 for line rental, talk weekends and 2mb BB from VM. Was offered 10MB for £25 so would be paying the same as you for 10mb but would also have telephone line rental & talk weekends.
