Thanks for this - I LOVE free listing as I get rid of stuff that is lying around in the loft. Better to get a bit money this way than have bits and bobs making no money lying about.

Can I ask a question regarding ebay, I sold a phone last week, received payment to my paypal (not through the ebay route) and then I sent the item. In the next few days a dispute was put up on the payment in my account and then the funds were reversed, leaving me with no money or phone. I contacted paypal who stated that the buyer's account had been hacked in to and therefore had to give a refund to the buyer?? This has left me with no phone or payment which has truly devastated me as the total was £191.00. What can I do?? Should I contact my bank or the police?? I sent the item recorded delivery and have proof that it's been signed for. Additionally, I have an address to which I sent the package to. Any advice would be much appreciated as losing that £191.00 has been an absolute killer.

    Thanks in advance
    David

You should direct this question in the Ebay community help board and they will give you guidance on what to do. Sounds like the small claim court. Did you make a transaction outside of ebay ie the buyer was not the final winner or buyer asked to send payment through paypal if you sent phone before the listing ended? Was the paypal address 'confirmed' that you posted to? Any feedback on the buyers history good? Bad? etc. Without item number or more details it will be hard to advise until we know how the transaction was made and how it was followed through.

The buyer actually won the item and then sent payment directly to my paypal account and I just though with them being a new ebayer that they didn't understand the system and it would save me on the fees. They had one positive feedback previously and no the paypal address wasn't confirmed. Thanks for your time.

Thats half the problem if you don't know how your account was hacked, nobody else to blame but yourself when your account gets hijacked.

Clicking on links in an email is how most of it happens.

im not blaming anyone else, simply stating i dont know how they did it thank you very much! and also stating that you dont need to start a new account, just talk to someone on live chat and they will change the password and send you it. and also for your information i have never clicked on a link in an email. jeeeeesssuuussssss next time i wont bother making my contribution

It might be worth contacting the police as you have proof the item was delivered as its been signed for.

Most people log into an account via an email as they assume its from ebay or paypal for example, you need to ascertain how your account was hacked into so it doesn't happen again.

Hope you have ran scans on your pc.

Sold two games on ebay the transaction went through fine and had the money in my account but two weeks later the payments i received were reversed back to the buyer as the payment were "fraudulent" (so ebay said),

yesthis has happened to me and i think every serious or semi serious seller (honest or not). its very very unfair and very very annoying.
the thing to remember is paypal is NOT a bank and your money is NOT SAFE in PayPal. period. i don't care how many nice logos they design.

its an incentive to sell some stuff but i am still not happy with their overall fees!

eBay may have rip-off fees, but it also has thousands of idiots using it who will pay more for a second hand item off eBay than brand new on amazon etc. so it cancels out and you are probably still better off selling there.

Amazon marketplace is just as bad.

So you are saving 10p on a listing fee, with closing fees just having been increased from 5.5% to 10%, so you save 4.5p per listing on something ending at its starting price (£0.99) but you are still paying 4.5% more fees compared to the recent fee change.

How do you get these listings to be FREE?

    I'm still being charged.

So just like today this is ice freezing cold for me.
