I'm getting fed up with Ebay/Paypal and their fees, can't deny it's a hot deal though . . .

I can't list or bid as my account has been suspended for selling Pandora's batteries. The "customer service" team are woeful.

I'm voting cold because:
they
it is only for items between 1p and 99p - not good if you are nervous about how much your item is worth

you will still be hit by after-sales fees

ebay are a monopoly
I know the last one isn't really related to the deal as such, but

only saving 10p as you have to start auction below 99p. yes a saving but not as good deal as they have done before.

what are pandoras batteries?

Ladies toys..... ;-)

No, really, they are batteries for a PSP that let you backup your games to the memory card. You can use them to run copies of games too!

I agree not much of a saving.... I have been selling on Tazbar as it is FREE to list and they only take 3% once sold....... Any other sites would be great if anyone knows any?
#13
nothing special by ebays standards, they have done free listing for all in the past, its not as if they cant afford to do that again with all the money they make off final value fees.
#14
its free

What sticks in my gullet is since they bought up PayPal, Ebay's insistance that to sell anything you have to have a PP account. That is a nonsense. They will miss out on fees from me selling in future as I refuse to reactivate my old PP account eversince PP allowed my high street bank account to be debited by 363quid because someone hacked into my account! That is unacceptable. They suspended my account for 6 months while they investigated and eventually I got the money back. U have a PP account at great risk while PP can suck up funds from your high street bank account and VISA overdraft facility right up to the MAX. No thanks

Not when they have just put their prices up it's not, and on top of paypal fees.

I have to sell a computer, that i build at £118, for £130, to even break even on ebay!

What difference is 10p going to make!

just keep in mind that there will be more listings on the free listing day thus diluting any gains that you might get by saving 10p
#25
Thanks for the heads up. I need to get rid of some games so I'll be doing that this weekend.

yeah and with the new lame search it'll be even harder to find amongst a sea of ****!
#27
I've said this before but it's worth repeating...
Lots of people list items on free listing days, so if you're selling something that is widely available you may get a lower price for it following a free listing day because of the additional competition, it's worth weighing this up against the saving you make on the listing fee.

Ebid is by far the biggest alternative

The best was Yahoo! Auctions, but somone bought & closed it...

Try ebid.co.uk - not brilliant, but free (not certain it still is).

***Trust & Safety at eBay: Changes to Postage & Packaging policies***

From 27th January 2009, we’ll be making changes to our Postage and Packaging (P&P) policies on eBay.co.uk. The new requirements include:

The introduction of maximum costs for domestic P&P in the following categories:
Books, Comics and Magazines
DVD, TV and Film
Music
Videogames
Mobile and Home Phones
All DVD listings are to offer Free P&P for domestic deliveries

How the hell can they make you offer free postage!!! If you sold a dvd for 99p you would end up losing money :x
Ebay are becoming a disgrace!! :x

ebay has no viable competition so there is no point complaining
the alternatives will either make you less money for your items or involve more time and/or effort
if you feel they charge excessive amounts
dont use them
they are a business so the bottom line for them is profit
