Good deal I think. Am waiting to do the same, but am seriously considering an iPhone this time. Had 9-10 Nokias on the trot, and will probably regret the iPhone, but will listen to opinions.

I thought offers like this were different depending on the person? Didnt think you could just phone and ask for what another person has.
p.s my current contract.... free Samsung Tocco Ultra, unlimited texts, 700 mins, unlimited internet, vodafone passport, Hands free kit....£30 (+VAT) for about 7 months....so will be offered another upgrade just after xmas :)

edit: could you explain the retention thing to me...heard it mentioned before, do you just ignore the upgrade info and wait for them to phone you and be desperate to keep you?
#3
you get called by them when you have listened to all the offers and are about a Pac ocde away from cancelling....

these offers can not be made by the usual staff you talk to, its a las minute thing to keep you which they only believe when you ask for the Pac code! wait for them to call you to give the pac code and they will ask you why you are leaving for the last time!

ohh right....so you ring and ask for the pac then wait for a call back?

All depends of what the Vodafone Representative offers\agrees and they all offer\agree different prices depending on who you get.

Glad you got a good deal. I'm in contract and pay £55 per month and they wouldn't do anything for me! Got to wait until Sept for upgrade or Nov if i want to cancell.

to be honest Id steer clear of this phone, I got it as a new work phone (free to me) last week at 3pm on a Weednesday afternoon, and retunrned it at 9am the following morning....it was slow, cumbersome...and pretty rubbish to be honest, im sure after 1 or 2 software upgrades it will be great, a mate has it on O2 and its great, but the Vodafone software is shocking...trust me I love a new gadget but I just couldnt live with it!!!

iPhone is just too big for me to carry everywhere, I had one but quite often just left it behind where with a proper small phone I would have just pocketed it. Also, expensive contract, one network only. Not very good, typical Apple control freaks.

This phone is a good all-rounder but not particularly brilliant at any one thing except being very complete. £33 seems like a shocking amount of money to pay every month for a phone to me.

Dunno.

Vodafone really do love screwing up phone software. Can't wait till my contract ends. The retention team would have to pay me £33 a month to stay with them.

I mean to say that Tmobile was £35 a month and also £35 for the phone, so I am saving about £71

The N97 is heavier than an iphone, taller than an iphone and deeper than an iphone, the only way it is smaller than an iphone is in width, until you open out the keyboard.

I cannot speak for the N97 on Vodafone but I have and still do have the original N95, the Vodafone software was terrible, always caused the phone to hang etc... in the end I flashed the phone and installed the original nokia software.
What surprised me was how much Vodafone messed about with the features of the phone.

When my contract is up with Vodafone this time around I am leaving, I have previously done all the retentions stuff with them but too be honest Vodafone are full of crap, they never tell you everything.

Is the N97 software different on 02 than Vodafone?

Which is why I don't like and would never buy the N97 either. However, the Iphone form factor width is ultimately the thing that makes it less portable for me. The test is to put the phone into a jeans pocket and then bend your leg at the hip. iPhone = massive fail. N97 bit better but still fail.
