This promotion is due to start Sat 23/06/07 and will be advertised as of today i would imagine.

Basically if you take out a new 18 mth £30+ pay monthly deal instore at orange retail stores you get a free Nintendo DS lite absolutely free there and then!!!

*As far as i know this applies to existing customers too!*

One thing to note however is that it will void your 14 day return policy.

At the moment instore you can get £100 credit on your orange account if you trade in any old phone so it may work out a better deal for some of you. For existing customers however you must trade in the phone you have previously so if it were say a phone still worth £100, then the free ds lite would prob make more sense if you understand what i mean.

That is all

Maybe because people like the cashback deals and are used to getting phones for free nowadays...

I think this is good because some people can't be bothered with cashback - for example a lot of the time I am not in the country when mobile bills come and I can't be done with chasing up cashback. I prefer to get a decent phone and price plan and pay for it - free gifts are a bonus.

Cheers, Dio

Thought that might be the case. I personally love cash back deals and have been doing then for about 4 years now, but the rules are so tight (like fail to file one on time and loose the rest) that i'm put off them at the mo.

Orange also offer £100 credit on your bill for all 18 month tariffs £25+ online here

(and you get to keep your existing phone to sell on here!!)

Still think it's a good deal though especially for those who like to go into a shop to see what they are getting.

I got a phone I picked up for a £1 so might pop into a store tomorrow and check out the deal. Didn't they used to do a refer a friend as well before or is that now dead ?

Hmm... I phoned to cancel last night to see what I could get. They basically said I can get £5 off any online monthly contract.. i.e, £25 instead of £30. (meaning you save £90)
However, if they are offering £100 up front, then that is better.

Hmm.. I will have to demand something better.

I work for Orange retail and we were notified earlier in the week.

I personally don't think that it deserves to be voted cold. It is a better deal than you would normally get in a retail store. It may not be an amazing bargain but personally if i preferer dealing face to face as most do.

With regard to the £100 (known as a buyback for an old handset) it isn't like a cheque back, it is literally us putting £100 credit on your orange account so for example, on a new connection of £30 pm you won't pay anything for the first 3 months and will have a bill of £20 in your 4th month. No redemtion, no keeping bills etc. It's all done by us instore.

Anyway thanks for the feedback folks, i don't expect people to vote hot by the way i just don't think its that bad a deal either. I see alot of people delighted when they get sumthin extra for what they were prepared to pay for anyway.

I've voted hot because my contract is due for renewal and been looking at getting my eldest a ds for a while now so 2 birds 1 stone.

u say existing contracts?
ive just bought a contract about 3 weeks ago on orange £35pm?
#11
So is this right?
If you go instore you can get £100 credit (with trade in of any old phone), free new phone, free nintendo ds, and free broadbrand if you get £30+ contract for 18 months?
Sounds good if you can do that.

Existing customers looking to upgrade (at the end of their current contract). The deal only starts 2moro but you should have been offered the £100 buyback though as a new customer when you took out your new contract.

No mate i should have made it more clear. You can choose either the ds or the £100 buyback or the broadband.

Hope that clears it up.

Apologies if I'm being overly dense/optimistic/both, but as an existing customer about 5 months into an 18 month contract, looking to upgrade to a £30 plan, is there anyway I'd be elligible for the free DS? If not, what are my chances of blagging it given that I've had a really rough deal since starting with Orange (my magic number was not activated properly, resulting in severe overcharging on my bills, a problem that went on for 3 and a half months).

Thanks in advance for any help boxblu or anyone else can give with this.
