Seems a decent deal considering the web bolt on. Phone has 3G aswell.

The Nokia 5230 is basically a slightly cut down less expensive version of the Nokia 5800, which I have and is a great phone!

This deal is on the Talk Mobile network but for an extra £3 per month (£15) you can get the same deal but with 300 mins, 300 texts + unlimited internet on the T-Mobile network, which is even better imo.

As I was saying this (and the Nokia 5530) are basically cut down, less expensive versions of the 5800. The 5530, which is about the same price as this, has WI-FI but no 3G whereas this has 3G but no WI-FI. You pays your money you takes your choice!

Considering the deal comes with unlimited internet I don't see the lack of WI-FI being a problem for most people. Except for hardcore phone enthusiasts maybe who'd probably be the type of people to go for more expensive type deals anyway.

So could I use the SIM for my mobile broadband - at £12 it would be good plus I could sell the phone too. Is it that simple?
#13
Can anyone else see how the networks are drawing us in with tempting 24 month contracts and rubbish 18 month ones? Reminds me of when they weaned us off 12 mothers.
#14
Very good deal. Hot.

I think they can tell if you are using the internet on the phone as opposed to using it to access the internet using a laptop.

On the phone, you wont use that much data but on a laptop you could use loads and if they get a sniff of this, they'll whack you with unreasonable charges. I have used my phone occasionally as a modem and got away with it but everyday use will flag up pretty quickly.

£100 handset, £244 contract.

My thoughts exactly.

In two years time the handset will be worth alot less than £100 too.
#18
no thanks to 2 year contracts, not voting, good for some
#19
What network will the 5230 be locked to though, I know some phones are unlocked from CPW.

Though could simply use the sim card in my sim free 5800 and let someone else have the new phone

It is a bit of a con the way these contacts are becoming increasingly longer and longer. First it was 12 month contracts, then 18 months and now two years.

There was a good joke in a recent Simpson's episode were Millhouse gets his phone confiscated by Mrs Crabapple and cries "hey that's not fair I was only on month one of a 60 month plan!"

Buy this deal. Sell phone for £100. Quidco £40.

£288 - £140 = £148

148 / 24 = £6.20 per month.

=

£6.20 per month for 200 minutes and 200 texts and Unlimited Internet!

HOT HOT HOT!

i just find the 2 yrs very offputting, the networks are getting very screwy, we as customers should demand 12 month contracts only,
We have the power brothers, revolution and all that, i stick 2 fingers up to the networks for ripping us off
#24
24 months contracts suck especially when u consider the kind of offers that were available say about 2 years ago. sadly they're pretty standard now so this is a pretty good deal

Yeah I remember the 12 month contracts with 12 months free! Those were the one's I went for and all went fine.

I never actually looked at the the 12 month ones where you actually had to pay! But as long as there are people like us demanding lower prices for contracts then even the 18 or 24 month one's will be cheap at some point, like this deal of course.

The End
Buy this deal. Sell phone for £100. Quidco £40.

£288 - £140 = £148

148 / 24 = £6.20 per month.

=

£6.20 per month for 200 minutes and 200 texts and Unlimited Internet!

HOT HOT HOT!

Considering the phone goes for £100 brand new on PAYG you might struggle to get the same on eBay.
#27
How much is the Unlimited internet. 1gb or 3gb or 500mb or is it unlimited as it states?
Tempted by this deal, then sell the phone and keep the sim.
Don't think you would get £100 for the phone maybe 85 to 90 quid and the Quidco is not a guarantee.
#28
the 5800 is free on an £15 a month over 18 months on virgin,
either 200mins 300txts
or
200 mins unlimited txt plus 100 virgin to virgin mins if you have media already.

they are not entertaining 12 months contracts now as they are greedy MF's :(

It depends if you want wifi or not. As you have unlimited internet over 3G then the need for wifi is reduced. However, I suspect that the unlimited internet does not apply when you are abroad. A lot of hotels have free wifi and also some public areas - so wifi can make for free internet abroad.

Anybody thinking of going with this CPW/Talk Mobile deal who wants to port over their existing mobile number, please bear in mind that you cannot take out this deal online as there is no box in your basket to enter your PAC code, existing number, network etc. You wont be able to port your number over afterwards as i discovered this morning when i called Talk. You can only take out this deal over the phone or in store if you want to port over your number. Therefore no quidco/topcashback cashback either :x

I went to the Carphone Warehouse ( oxford street, London ) this afternoon to refund my faulty Bold 9700 just signed couple days ago, I suddenly saw this offer and asked the salesman if I can switch to this great offer. After he checked the computer system I was been told those two price plans didn't have free internet anymore, only free minutes and texts.

Can anyone confrim if this is true ( their system updates more frequently than ads) or just the staff want to prevent me from switching to a much cheaper offer.

Why are you bothering with this?!

This is a much better deal:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/613742/updated-nokia-5800-300mins-300texts

Isn't it? Better phone, more mins and texts for only a fraction more.
