John Lewis still offer a free 5 year guarantee on all their tv's, and I would assume (maybe wrongly) that John Lewis are cheaper price wise than Panasonic stores?
#2
This offer is always on just instore tho.

From Panasonic Website:

And if that's not enough, see a demonstration in-store today and qualify for a 5 Year Warranty when you purchase the product in that store on that day.

Panasonic do NOT have shops like Sony, this offer is at selected retailers selling Panasonic TV's.

Search here for your local dealer here by simply entering your location and click on Search

Found 30 shops across London... including Tottenham Court Road where negotiating skills can bag you a bargain!

This deal is always on with panasonic. Its been running for the last 18 months in my local store.
#7
This is a good deal.
I actually drove 150miles to collect my television on a previous promotion, simply because I could have a 5year warranty & it was £200 cheaper than anywhere around here - including John Lewis.
John Lewis warranty is with them, this one is with panasonic & panny dont f*ck about, if it cant be repaired quickly, then they tend to give a new set.

As said, This is only available at Panasonic Stores & Panasonic partners.
You basically get a flyer from the store, who stamp it & you send that off with your reciept.
Then Panasonic send you confirmation for your 5 year warranty.

Panasonics customer service is excellent, this warranty has real value.

the participating dealers in a 35 mile radius of Canterbury are all the pricey shops, the Argos type are not in it.
#10
Any heads up on good deals on tvs at participating stores?
#11
Can't complain, they're fantastic sets anyway

i've just bought the panasonic TX-L42D25B and that comes with a 5yr warrenty but the paperwork i have says it was only upto the 31st aug,on the other hand i've just got back from costco and they do the same set for £882.00 inc vat with the costco 5yr warrenty thrown in.......thats a very good price for this set....

You have to bear in mind that the COSTCO warranty requires you to remain a member for each of the five years @ approx £30/year, so it's not really 'thrown in', but kind of is if you would have paid for membership anyway regardless. I joined COSTCO specifically to buy a TV, so I need to find ways of saving money with COSTCO to effectively make my warranty 'thrown in'.

In my experience The Panasonic shop pricematched John Lewis.

what does it cover?
T&C anyone?

John Lewis is not a Panasonic 5 year warranty! it's there own and use a third party repair company!

Try http://www.mrmdvd.com website BUT to get the free Panasonic 5 year warranty you have to purchase it instore ONLY! as it's a promotion Panasonic is running again ONLY for selected independent Panasonic dealers.

This maybe it. I had a problem with my set after 18 months. It was repaired at the stores workshop. I would asume that they claim the money back from Panasonic. Only ever had two tvs and they have both been Panasonic.

Panasonic fixed our 3.5 year old TV for free, it had no warranty (only bought with 12m warranty). We rang them for a quote and they picked it up and returned fixed and working for free. Thats one way to get brand loyalty, I know what I brand I will be buying next time.

PS: The invoice for the repair said £337 inc vat, parts and labour.

Yes they do, there's one in Milton Keynes.

The Sony Centre stores you see are mostly franchises though.

The local Panasonic dealer to me asked what was the best price I'd seen for the G20 which I'd rang about and offered me a deal based on that price with the 5 year warranty

I have found that John Lewis are very poor though if something goes wrong with the TV. I have a nightmare trying to get my year old Panny fixed. It took me 4 attempts and two weeks(call centre balls up's) to get them to come out to see my TV. Also they do not actually fix the TV on site they take it away to their workshop and that's the last you see of your TV for a least 2 weeks so maybe a 5 year manufacturers guarantee may be better as i assume they use authorised repairers who will have good access to genuine Panny parts.

John Lewis don't actually use a 3rd party company as yet but they will be moving to a 3rd party contracter soon.

Some areas may have already moved to a local contractor then but up here in Edinburgh the repairs are still done by the store themselves at their local distribution depot.

These Panasonic stores are not owned by Panasonic.

From the website...

"Panasonic Store dealers are part of an exclusive group of independently owned and run dealers that specialise in the retailing of Panasonic products only.

The dealers in this network aim to deliver the highest possible level of service and best choice of Panasonic products in your local area."

its peace of mind but you wont need to use it very well made and best pictures around only sony come close !!
#28
Rubbish, Sony don't come close and there are plenty who come as close as Sony. Which isn't very.

Just thought I'd add that they do have their own stores well at least in Southampton they do.

NEVER GO Panasonic's own stores as these are way over priced!!
There are other companys that are a Panasonic dealer's and do the Pana 5yr Warranty.
John Lewis are cheaper and do price match but they are NOT a Panasonic 5yr Warranty!! they use there own third company repair service as they are not allowed the official Pana 5yr Warranty!!

Done some digging on this and the offer is valid until 31st Oct 2010.
I have a Richer Sounds on my doorstep and I am wondering if they will price match.

I am after the TX-L37G20B and it is actually cheaper at Sevenoaks Sound & Vision.
http://store.sevenoakssoundandvision.co.uk/products/productdetail/part_number=TX-L37G20B/1765.0.4.3

If Richer Sounds do price-match this, is their 5 year guarantee as good as Panasonic? I cant seem to locate the terms and conditions of it anywhere. Having said that, the feedback on here regarding the panny guarantee is pretty convincing :D

I had a look at the Panasonic website where it tells you about the 5 year warranty current offer is from 01/11/10 to 31/01/11. Offer includes 3d tv's but link takes you to all of the other models included.
It asks for your postcode to tell you nearest participating stores. When i did this it included currys and comet in the list of stores. Currys currently doing the TX-P50G for £998 which is cheapest i have seen.
Was in comet today they didnt know anything about it though would have been happy to sell me a 5 year warranty for £349. Phoned Currys customer service and was told they were taking part so if and when i decide to go for it i will also use quidco and get an additional 3% off it.
p.s. went into comet and currys shops today, neither knew anything about offer. Phoned Panasonic, the guy immediately told me they were not taking part. I pointed out that the panasonic website directed you to a page about their warranty and from that page you were directed to aist of participating dealers. He checked this out and arranged to have this amended as it was incorrect stores listed, it was listing dealers selling the product as well as those offering the warranty.
