The iPhone tariff comes with 250mb free internet per month plus 12 months free Wi-Fi at BT Openzone's.

All for FREE!!!

How awesome is that!

Ok, so it's only 250mb, but you don't even have to top up!

I put my myself with no animal package, so I have the "starter" tariff, this is 20p per minute and 10p per text.

It might be available with an animal package, I don't know.

You NEED to ask for the iPhone pay as you go, with 12 months free internet. This is NOT the Dolphin tariff.

wi-fi sounds interesting (assuming it is not included in the 250mb limit). Do you have to do anything to keep the sim active?
#2
Sounds great.

I never managed to get bt openzone working with a proper bt mobile handset. If it does work you'll be able to use lots of other peoples wireless router (assuming they've set up btfon if it's still required).

No, that's not in the allowance. You get an extra 750mb per month.

Not as far as I am aware, probably usual T&C's, chargeable call within 3 months.

#5

#6
old news - I got a sim off them ages ago and they put on the free internet / wifi etc
#7
Is this just for the iPhone or will this work in any (unlocked) phone?
#8
Hmmmm, same question as pet2000, please.
#9
Where did you get the free sim and what number did you call for activation please ?
#10
If this is true, it's a blazingly hot deal!
#11
Would you be able to cut the sim and put this in an ipad?
#12
Are you sure he didn't simply activate the Dolphin package for you?

To qualify for the Dolphin package you have to top up at least £10 every month, otherwise you automatically get demoted to the default package & lose the free internet perk.

Very sure, as I have not topped up and I have had the BT Openzone username and password though already!

0800 079 0006

Register then ring back and just keep saying "agent" to the automated person, then after 3 times you will get put though.

Would imagine just an iPhone as they take your serial number, but not 100% sure.

Don't get excited.
I'm on Orange mobile internet with a netbook and it's carp!
I've been from Newcastle to Southampton and even Wales with never a speed any better than dial-up.
Often so so slow it's not even worth bothering with
And another year of my contract to go.
I'd sooner watch Sunderland than extend it.

Remember that you also get the free Wi-Fi!

You probably didn't ask for the iPhone tariff.
#22
pity they ask for the serial number of your iphone - I don't suppose there's any way round this?
#23
My Orange BT Openzone password has never worked, ive tried at numerous hotspots but always fails. Anybody else have this issue? Have been meaning to ring Orange but aint got round to it.
#24
good but you have to credit £10 monthly though.

Misleading deal.

Title doesn't prominently explain you need an iPhone\serial number\are iPhone sims "micro sims"?

Main text doesn't explain it either.

You need to top up £10 a month to keep the internet

Not very clever, another time waster.

only thing is phone reception for wi-fi is nowhere near as good as a pc or laptop, so maybe your pc can see an openzone connection but your phone might not, or thats what i've found anyway!

I am an Orange Mobile pay as you go customer and I recently got a new (second hand) phone. I've been on their fixed rate all day tarrif for as long as I can remember and I figured that since my "new" phone had an HTML browser, I'd see what packages I could add to take advantage of that. I've been aware for some time that they offer a reward system whereby you can get free texts, minutes or Internet access if you top up by at least £10 a month.

This isn't something I've taken advantage before as up until as I barely spend more than a £5 a month. Orange do these animal packages now (what the hell is that all about anyway??) and there's a range of different options depending on your needs. Some people need more talk time while others want music, texts or the Internet. The problem is that Orange's advertising both on their website and on their automated messaging system is quite ambiguous almost to the point of being downright misleading.

For all you fun-loving, sociable types, Dolphin plans give you unlimited free texts and free Internet on your phone.

For example, I was interested in the "Dolphin" package and on their website it says "Love Facebook & Bebo? For all you fun-loving, sociable types, Dolphin plans give you unlimited free texts and free Internet on your phone." That implies that you get access to the Internet right? I then rang orange on 452 and the message said "If you're a bit of a Facebook, Twitter or Bebo fan you'll get free unlimited Internet." Well this just sounds absolutely fabulous I thought.

I thought I had better dig around a bit and find out as much information as I could before I changed my call plan. On the Orange shop website a different page said "unlimited free texts plus free access to Facebook, Bebo and MySpace". I then dialled 450 and went through the various options to get to the orange shop that way and for the dolphin package the lady said "free texts and free Internet". This was at the point where I could actually change to the new tariff and I was warned that once I moved I wouldn't be able to change back.

I started to get suspicious and decided to call Orange customer service to find out the truth about the "Dolphin" package because by now nothing was clear to me and to me, free unlimited Internet means just that - not three websites that I never use.

I spent a while stuck in the automated menu system again before making it through to an option that said it would transfer me to Orange customer service... with a one off charge of 25p. Naturally I hung up and used the land line free phone number instead. With about 15 to 20 minutes of being passed from department to department and of course being hung up on at least once I finally made it through to the pay as you go customer service desk.

The customer service representative I spoke to didn't try to hide the information from me, although I had to explicitly ask whether or not the free Internet access with that package was only for certain websites. She confirmed that it was and it was only for Bebo, Facebook and Myspace (what happened to Twitter as mentioned on 452?). Internet access outside these sites would result in additional charges. Interestingly enough, I was even told by this person that other customers had been complaining about the lack of "free unlimited Internet access" with the Dolphin package. When did Bebo, Myspace and Facebook become the Internet anyway?

So what do we think... misleading advertising? Trading standards anyone?

lol...well this deal would be ideal if it worked but I have called up and this is what I have been told by the orange rep I spoke to.

I hate orange. Damn silly company are throttling my bb to 512k at peak because I went over a 5gb fair usage on their "unlimited" broadband. I also have an iPhone on contract with them and I constanly lose calls but speaking to support is useless. Just a terrible company to deal with.
This dealmlooks grat pity it's with that awful company.

@vuittion

Yes you're correct, any sites apart from their very limited selection of Facebook, MySpace amd Bebo you will be charged, pretty useless for smartphones IMO.

I'd been with Orange for years while using my Blackberry(BIS covering all my internet needs), but upon switching to the Moto Milestone I decided to move onto the Dolphin tarrif, just pulling up emails and weather app updates used all my credit in days, didn't realise where it was going at first so topped up again and down it went the second time. Only when I called Orange did I realise the internet allowance was restricted to those sites only, I thought they were just used as examples.

The Dolpin tarrif is pretty poor IMO, I'm on O2 now and they give you 500MB per month + 300 texts(topping up by £10), and theres is not limited to certain sites/ usage as Orange Dolphins 250MB is.
#33
Just to add I was replying to vuittion specifically there, I realise this deal is for iphone users only and doesn't sound as though anything to do with Dolphin, although not sure.

Haven't voted either way.

If you have an iPhone, you get free net and Open Zone.
But then you need to pay for your calls somehow, on whatever scheme you choose.

I put £10 on last year and only use the phone for checking email, news and so on. I rarely make calls and use Skype anyway. The Open Zone works fine. In fact you need no credit on your phone to access this, I remember they actually give you £15 to start with.
#35
good deal. what is with everyone saying "i rung". Does your skool not teach youz to speak proppa?

I had a similar deal with O2 last year - it was iPhone PAYG which had free internet and wifi for 12 months. I wasn't using it in an iPhone and they sent a few warning texts and then removed the free data/wifi allowance, I would imagine that even if you did provide an IMEI number they would check that they match, or that it at least was an Apple IMEI on an ongoing basis.

No, you don't! I have just received my text confirming it! "Hi form Orange. You will get 250 megabytes of free internet every month for 12 months." I have not topped up, my balance is £0.01!

Please verify your statements before saying them next time.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

I phoned orange about this a month ago. They put me through to their iphone department and I mentioned this offer. They told me that the offer is suppose to apply to new iphones bought through orange or the apple store, and the phones should be locked to orange network apparently. They said that this wouldn't work with a second hand, or non orange iphone.

Maybe the person talking to me was lying or maybe things have change in a month. I did press them and they did seem to know what they were talking about!
