Hi All

Just went to log onto First Direct and they have a similar deal to the post office they will give you £100 prices start from £5 per month and you can cancel at any time and the money will be in your account within 8 weeks. So you can make around £90.

Only downside is you do need a first direct account for this, but they will also give you £100 for switching if I remember correctly.

Looks good to me, don't think they're a great bank but if this suits you then it's a v.good deal.

Possible extra £200 though for non customers :)

Just wanted to say have been with First Direct 15 years and they are a fantastic bank. They deal with whatever you need there and then not like my husband's bank who just never get anything right. They are also on the end of a telephone 24 hours a day.

Fair enough, I'm sure loads of people like them. They just messed me around by not giving me the £50 incentive.

I agree, I bank with First Direct and think they give fantastic customer service. Their online banking is easy to use and it is great to be able to ring up a UK customer services were I can understand what they are saying that doesn't close.
I have always found their staff extremely helpful.

Might as well have a go at this, already done the post office and m+s one :-D

Agreed, great bank, great customer service - always picks the phone up within a few rings, always a UK based English (or often Scottish) person, always very knowledgeable. I was with HSBC for 30 years - they became worse and worse with customer services / telephone banking in India, terribly long delays in picking up the phone and poor communication, so changed to First Direct and took an offset mortgage with them. By far the best move I have ever made. I would never change. E-banking is also excellent.

BUT: life insurance here is very expensive (my quote from FD is £25 higher than the best quote elsewhere). Best to go to a comparison site and go for a policy with terminal illness cover (usually at no additional cost).
