You can just register domains using a PAYG sim as the contact number and a free webmail account, and the ten or so I had I registered to an address I lived in in the late 1990s and never bothered to update. This has worked for about 80 domain years.

The main problem with registered domains has been people doing spam runs and using my domain as the email suffix, and also receiving spam to random words as the prefixes to my domains email. I doubt I have had any spam to the registered email address for all those domain years.
