yup all argos deals are like this, some people get them, some dont. i got the £7.59 games a while ago but didnt get the 3 for £20.

atlest theres more chance of getting this than the whsmith deals and i wont be bothered if it gets voted cold.

PS3 controllers are so overpriced, bit like the console.

Not sure how they can justify the cost when the 360 has more power, better graphics and better games.

Voting hot.

ps3 is overpriced? Its only £80 more than an elite.
what do you get for that £80?

blu-ray player
bluetooth connecting upto 7 players (infra-red, 4 players on 360)
free PSN which offers better dedicated servers as proven by MAG and resistance 2.
built in play and charge kit
built in WIFI
web browser
USB playback
HDMI 1.3 offering true dolby HD sound over xbox's HDMI 1.2
SATA HDD as opposed to a custom overpriced one.
larger peripheral support......try running a g25 on a 360.
lower failure rate (microsoft are offering 3 year guarantee but that only proves the point they fail more than they should)
7 Cell processor , which can do more in the same time than the tri core xenon
550mhz RSX is better than the 500mhz xenos as the RSX can share graphics with the cell processor which is why forza doesnt look like gt5 and halo reach doesnt look like KZ2.

easily worth that £80 since a blu-ray player would cost that much then you may need......
play and charge = £10
XBL = £35 annually
wifi = £40

if you buy an arcade then a 120gb HDD will cost you £50 whereas on ps3 you can get 500gb for that price.

i think underpriced was the word you were looking for.

fps_d0minat0r, mate, dont rise to the bait. Blatantly seen your avatar and thought he'd have a go winding you up!
The charger looks pretty cool, but nothing beats the official controllers which, for the record, I much prefer to 360 ones!

Pity about the games though eh?

I know, I know, i'm very immature.

I really just wondered if anyone had any great insight as to why I can't find a Dual Shock 3 controller for less than £33 for my already very expensive console.

I'm not going to point out everything wrong with the posted "facts" though.

You're right... they are bloody expensive! I don't know of any better prices for official ones either, sorry!

sixaxis, bluetooth, dualshock 3 and a built in battery doesnt come free you know.

if sony got rid of sixaxis, used infra-red instead of bluetooth, used a single rumble engine rather than dualshock, stuck on a tacky d-pad, and told customers to buy play and charge kits for £8 then im sure ps3 controllers would be selling at a lower price.

To get this thread back on topic, the dual charging station is actually quite a neat little product and keeps 2 PS3 controllers nice and tidy.

Mine is next to my TV and is actually connected to the USB port on my TV which charges the controllers up while I watch TV! I'm so impressed I'm after the 360 version now

I went for Little Big Planet and a controller and it did say £2.49 so hopefully it works. Might not be perfect but will do till some sort of deal comes for a real Sony one.

Offtopic:
I think it's hilarious that fps_d0minat0r is under the impression that the Xbox 360 uses infrared on its controllers. Is someone gonna tell him that they don't and that the infra-red receiver is there to allow a normal remote to be used to control media playback. I'm sure he added in the cost of a Logitech Bluetooth to infrared converter to his calculations though...

xbox is not bluetooth compatable like the ps3.
i could not connect my jabra bluetooth headset to it but it worked perfectly on my ps3.
ok the gaming controller doesnt exactly use infra red but im guessing it uses a modified version of it.......why would they do that? so they can sell their first party hardware at a rip off price.
its like how they could have used SATA HDD's but they decided to use their own version......the ONLY benefit being they could block third party companies and overprice their own HDD's.

You get a free headset anyway.

It uses wireless, it's nothing to do with infrared. First party peripherals being a ripoff is a common theme of this generation, they are all it. The wii being the worst imo.

Sony using ridiculous memory and processor technology has caused the biggest problems though. Massive extra costs added to games development and a scaling back in the graphics quality of cross platform games to cater to the least powerful, lowest selling system. Not too mention the poor folk who only have a PS3 that get the worst version of a game near every time.

well if a handful of developers cant make a port, its not sony's problem.
as far as their concerned the ps3 is capable of graphics like killzone 2, uncharted 2, god of war 3, gran turismo so they definatly know they dont have poor hardware.

were talking about the best professionals in the industry here, not some students trying their hardest to pass an exam.....its a shame when companies like valve make nooby statements.

plus theres also games which are better on PS3 like unreal tournament, final fantasy, red alert, burnout paradise, dragon age origins.

in conclusion, which ever platform is the lead platform will look better.

The PS3 is an excellent machine. The first party titles have amazing graphics, but they take ages to make, have massive budgets and don't sell well enough.

Cross platform is the big problem, even when leading on PS3, the 360 looks at least slightly better nearly every time. Check the Eurogamer head to heads for details.

Back on topic, I never got the full discount, only got half price, for some reason the receipt says Mad Catz controller which it doesn't seem to be.
