Just been to Asda in Slough and in their MCDonalds restaraunt there is self service on soft drinks. I asked the man if it was free refills and he says it is. So you just get a small coke or whatever for 60 or 70p and its unlimited. Good deal I think.

Ben

UPDATE- Seems many stores are doing these refills please add in if you know a store near you which has free refills.

Don't know why this is getting cold?

This is the first I've ever heard of macdonalds having self service on drinks....About time though, the yanks have had this for years...Hope this spreads to all macdonalds....

Voted hot

i wouldnt want to drink more than one cup though :)
#3
Soft drinks are not self service in any of the McD's near me.
#4
cool - sounds good :)
#5
Cant understand why, in those branches where it is self service, would they give you a choice of size. Surely they realise that anyone with any sense is going to buy the smallest ones.
#6
have been self service in the one near me since it opened about 3 years ago

Speaking as a Windsor boy, it's good to have some extra incentive to go into Slough...:-D

Maybe the bloke at the Slough McDonald's is just an idiot, I've seen looooooooooooooooads of McD's with the drinks machine in the customer area and all I have seen have a great big sign above saying 'NO FREE REFILLS!!!'
#12
I think in this case you should just go up and grab a refill if you want one - that's unless a member of McDonalds staff actively pulls a gun on you for abusing their services....

I do the same with salad bowls in the harvester and pizza hut - the staff try and take the bowl off you after your starter/first bowl - I keep hold of my bowl(or plate) and grab some more if I want some during my meal/the pizza - no one tries to stop me and I'm only using up stuff that will in all reality be thrown out in a few hours time.

Power to the people.....:-D

Asda High Wycome Coke is very watery - ugh.
Which is probably why the refills are free. :-D
#14
gone cold, but as long as some people found it helpful I dont mind.

Was it? I thought the post two weeks ago was for free coffee and tea refills not the soft drink refills. I could be wrong though - but cant recall seeing a post for free soft drink refills.

80% soya, 12% sawdust, 7% Mechanically Reclaimed "Meat" and 1% beef. Well, that's your standard burger makeup - I think mcdonalds have gone "upmarket" and have 100% "beef" (which is made up of ~40% water).

And if you want a bit of a laugh at some questions posted to McDonalds about their ingredients check out their own "health focussed" website here - http://www.makeupyourownmind.co.uk/

It has been in that one for at least 12 years, I'm certain of this fact as I'm having a birthday this week and the day after my 18th we visited mcdonalds in wroxham to try and clear hangovers and got a few refills, saying that we knew the manager back then so no idea if it was allowed or not.
#26
Glad i got a hot deal finally
#27
Burger King in Stockton on Tees has self service on their drinks. I don't know of any McDs round here that do though.
#28
Voted Hot for uK.... but must of Euro zone and USA allways had free top ups... Bah!!!
#29
I come from Canada, and all McD's will give free refills - even if they don't have a self serve drinks machine, you just go to the counter and ask for it. Generally, if they see you with an empty cup standing at the tills, they will come up to you and ask you what refill you want.

I have never tried it here, as my friends won't let me - they said that they didn't want to be associated with a cheap skate like me lolz

PS, I'm sure the Harvester allows unlimited refills? I've been to three different ones and they all tell me that I can keep going back if I wanted to O_o
#30
Not sure why this should be voted hot, since to vote hot should mean you can't get a better deal anywhere else and loads of places have been offering free re-fills for years. Most subways for instance. Even some Mcdonalds have had this a long time. So why hot????
#31
because not a lot of people are aware of it?
by your definition, then this is a... tip? benefit? customer's rights? lolz... for simplicity's sake I'll just call it a tip!

Anyway, I think it should be hot, because people can benefit from knowing this. But that's just my 2p
#32
i have umpteen restuarants near me, if that's what you call them, near me and the only one to offer this service is the one loacated in asda, so maybe it is an asda thing ??:?
#33
They do this at ASDA Castlepoint in Bournemouth.
#34
I don't want to encourage people drinking extra fizzy drinks, its not neccessary. Just because its free, doesn't mean you have to have it and its good for you. You know its not. Voted cold :-(
#35
With an average of 6g salt per meal, free refills should be provided on H&S grounds.
#36
ehhh ~!!!! yuk !!!

drinking their filth the 1st around would be bad enuff !!
#37
ASDA Wallington also..

It's ppl like you who make McDs think they can abuse UK customers and charge 90p for a cup of water and syrup that costs them under 5p. The rest of the world get 'free' refils from McDs, IKEA give free refils, only rip off britain charges another 90p.
#39
a cant even finish a cup never mind another 1

Surely a hot deal is when you find a deal that is cheaper or better than anywhere else?
This is not and while it may be useful to know can not be considered a hot deal.
