£8.50 monthly tariff
February 10th 2009; 00:01 GMT

First 3, now Virgin Mobile. It seems owning a mobile phone has never been so cheap! The latest tariff offering from Virgin Mobile includes 100 minutes of calls, 100 texts, a free high-spec mobile, free voicemail and free Instant Messaging. Sounds pretty good to us!
After 3's £9 per month tariff, Virgin has undercut it by 50p to release a £8.50 monthly deal that will be available from tomorrow (February 10th 2009).

The package includes a choice of handset (see below), 100 minutes of calls, 100 text messages and free voicemail.

The handsets available are

Samsung G600 - 5 megapixel cameraphone
LG KC550 - 5 megapixel cameraphone
Nokia 3120 - 3G mobile with free instant messenger

Customers will also be able to take advantage of Virgin's mobile Internet service from just 30p per day - allowing access to online sites like Bebo, Yahoo Search and Facebook.

note it is 18 month thou.

the U600 is also on that tariff, better phone

HOT - have found Virgin to be very good, although the customer service previously rated as the best amongst the networks has gone downhill a bit now that some of the service has gone overseas, including South Africa. Staff always helpful, just can take longer to sort out a problem.
#5
Great deal - I'm on £8 a month for sim-only, 60mins and no texts with T-mobile, so this deal is fantastic.
#6
Maybe £30 quidco on this too?
#7
add hot for this deal
#8
This is a 12 month deal not 18 month. The 18 month one is better IMO, £12 or 150 minutes and 250 minutes.
#9
Plus £30 Quidco!

Very interesting but does anybody know is the free calls are cross network calls or just Virgin numbers and landlines.

I'm with Virgin at the mo, and free calls are to all mobile networks and landlines

You can use the airtime in your package to make calls and send texts from within the UK to any UK mobile network, at any time. And its not just mobile networks, UK landlines are included too (thats numbers beginning with 01,02 and 03)

Out of all the free phones available, which is the best one?
#16
I've been on all the networks and the customer service from Virgin Mobile is head and shoulders above the rest - and a world away from that provided by virgin media.

You also get the opportunity to get V festival tickets before they go on general sale.

Unless it's changed since the OP, this IS an 18 month contract as far as I can see. If you select the 12 month tab, the £8.50 deal disappears.

Ill second that. No mention of that in the detials.
#19
It is an 18 months contract.

The Samsung G600 is the one to get as that currently cost £78 in argos on sale.

This is quite a good deal with £30 cashback from QC and others but I don't want to be tie to an 18 months contract.

This is an 18 month deal not 12 months. I work for virgin mobile in the Manchester Arndale store (inside Zavvi, yes we're still here). Come down and see us if you want to sign up for one of these and you won't have to pay the £4.99 delivery charge!! Some great phones on offer and the best value tariff on the market!!

Either the LG KC550 or G600 if you want a good camera, both 5mp. If you want a music phone then either the Nokia 5220 (comes with free speakers) or the SE W302 (includes a free gb mem card)

So you save £4.99 on delivery, and lose £30 going through Quidco, will have to think about that one.

Probably as much chance of turning the £4.99 into £30 on a fruit machine than you do with getting £30 from Quidco.

I have recieved £805.59 with Quidco since Feb 2006,spread over 60 transactions, and have only had £1.45 from HMV declined.:whistling:

Good cheap contract, But wouldnt touch it myself.

Have had terrible service (and then terrible "customer service" when trying to sort it out!) from Virgin Media and from Virgin Airlines so now I refuse to use any Virgin Branded service. I actually gladly paid to end my contract early with Virgin Media as they are that bad!

Since Jan 2006 mine across 292 transactions is:

Tracked/Pending: £286.65
Added: £45
Validated: £1.44
Received: £0
Paid: £1934.64
Declined: £60.83
Total: £2267.73

The "Added" is for something that was declined but has since been added so the total declines are £15.83.

Maybe im misreading this but the same 100 mins + 100 texts for 12 months seems to cost £20 as far as I can see? Its only when you are clicking on the 18 month option that it is £8.50. Im considering moving but Im currently getting 300 minutes on 3 for £15 a month and nobody seems to be offering me anything like that at the moment as far as I can see. Plus when I tried to get the deal that Virgin Broadband were saying was in existance only the other week Virgin Mobile were positively unhelpful about it on the phone even at sales point so I dread to think what they would be like if you ever want to move! LOL. The liberty sim might be worth thinking about though...dont suppose anybody knows if the virgin sims work on T Mobile phones given they use the same network as I understand it?

No "Received" is what they have received from the merchant but not paid out to me yet, "Paid" is what I have received :D

Ahhh cool :-) Thanks! :-) Suddenly Virgin look a lot more attractive :-)

After the quidco and price of the Samsung G600 at Argos I work out that one pays £2.79 a month for 100 min & 100 txts. Basically 1.4p a minute and the same for a txt. (This does not include the VAT). Gotta be a good deal. And that's the 18 month contract!

Can you take out 2 contracts?

As i would like one (been on before and now currently using pay as you go)

And GF would like one (but hasn't got a debit card or anything to pay monthly)

We are both on Virgin, Any ideas if this can be done? :)

Can this be done online? Would i just have to order 1 then order another after? As it wont let me add 2 at once?

Thanks :-D

My Mum took out a £14 a month contract just under 2 weeks ago, will they let her swap to this contract?
