guess this is for new customers only ?

This was better before Xmas , it was £100 Quidco wasnt't it and with £50 M&S vouchers - okay installation was £30 but this deal is much less attractive

Still Overpriced anyway for what you get and the price you pay per month ..... I'm sticking with Virgin with my V+ thanks ;-)
#3
Yeah new customers only
#4
i just love the way Sky reward longstanding loyal customers :-(
#5
If this is subject to a contract then it ISN'T FREE!!
#6
Very good deal, voted hot. thanks

Yep, been with Sky for over 10 years and had diddly squat in any extras. dont really know why i'm staying with them, their channels are full of adverts every 10 minutes and quality of programmes seems to be on a downward spiral!

Whats this Freesat box you can have - a one off payment, but what channels do you get and does it wore like Sky+ ?
#8
I called sky yesterday to cancel. Ended up getting free Sky HD box, Half price installation (£30) and 10% off for 6 months so they will give yah something if you call them!! Still not 100% but its better than nothing I suppose!!!!
#9
weekellso - to be honest mate doesn't sound like a great deal - 10% off is not much and you still needed to pay for installation. What's better than nothing is actually cancelling altogether and spending your monthly subscription on something more enjoyable - like buying some paint, painting your wall and then watching it dry! At least that would be uniterrupted viewing :-)

Seriously, most important thing is that your happy with the deal!
#10
LMAO Youre right though and I know It!!!

Sky is in hubbys name! Was going to cancel and put it in my name due to quidco and marksy vouchers but when they offered that I thought aye ok then...... Ack well it is done now!

So true about longstanding sky customers though - we get squat diddly **** all. We have also been with them for around 10 or so years!

It's really bad on the music channels, especially VH1 classic, they will play two songs, then adverts, absolutely terrible how it's gotten over the years.

MTV now just shows reality programmes, mostly about spoilt teenagers.

Remember in the early 90's, when it was really good?

As for Freesat, I'm tempted by that myself, here are the channels:

It's not too bad.

Im just hoping that when the 3D arrives in April, they wont charge us any extra for that if we have full movies and full sports packages!

Yep - the goold old 90's - could not agree more (what good times they were). Fewer channels but those days it was Quality! now we are looking at 20+ music channels, loads of Ad breaks, reality tripe - its a real bind channel hopping to avoid all the non-music stuff!

Thanks for the link on Freesat will take a look. My belated new years resolution may well be to ditch Sky and try something different!

just realised the last post makes me feel really old and i'm not yet 40!

What other options are out there now? Can't get optic cable in my road and would like HD and better broadband as a deal. I am also thinking of 'cancelling' but would actually go through with it as there is little on that I don't buy anyway as that's how I like to watch TV.
#16
Do they still insist on sky multiroom for £10 a month extra to get the HD offer

You only make the one off payment if you stay with sky and will have to still pay if you want sky+. I've bought the freesat humax hdr which you can record on for around £250 with nothing else to pay. They do have better deals on hotdeals from time to time. It has BBC HD and ITV HD at the moment and you can even connect it up to your router via Ethernet and watch BBC iPlayer. If you have sky+ already its just a matter of cancelling sky and connecting this box up to your 2 connections. You can get some non freesat channels but you will lose the movies, sports and channels like sky one. Its all overpriced on sky anyway so I'm not losing anything. Here's the list of channels.

To watch 3D, customers will also require a new '3D Ready' TV, which are expected to be on sale in the UK next year.

Nope, Sky uses NDS, completely different encryption from Nagra3. Both haven't been cracked though.

I'd imagine you'd still have to pay, no one is going to give you access to a CS for nothing.

Your options are pay for sky, get freesat (Needs a satellite dish fitting) but you get HD (No subscriptions when you've got the box), You can also get a digi box fitted and that works through your aerial. HD is coming through the aerial in the next month or so, but for the time being only to certain areas. You could also get a digital recorder that records your TV through the aerial

Depends if you are sharing as well.

If not, your looking at £12-£20 per month for a full package (full S*y UK HD, S*y Italy HD, S*y Germany HD plus a lot of other stuff).

Exactly. You need a card to share for a start or get ripped of with pay servers should you go down that glitchy route...

Get a premium one mate & it's as if you have the card in your box.

Most servers rip you off by overloading, but the guys who advertise via word of mouth & recommendations are the best. I think it's Max 15 people per card to avoid glitching.

If you have something to share you will be paying for it, not much interest in the free channels.

Even though it's a good deal its still more than feck all. ;) Plus you are putting your faith in someone you have never met who can turn it off at any time.
