Free Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S (White) - 12 month Vodafone contract, 300 minutes, unlimited texts, 500MB data (unlimited data for first three months), 2GB BT OpenZone - potentially £19.83 a month (£238 for the year) @ Dialaphone £432.00

WinspirationWinspiration

Sim free, this recently released phone retails for £339.99 at Play (best deal I could find); with this deal you could pay only £238 over the course of the twelve month contract.

Please note this is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S; it was released only a week or two ago and it's an update on the previous Xperia Arc model.

It got an amazing four and a half star review from TechRadar just three days ago, which you can find here: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-s-1033402/review

Also, while this is a redemption deal, which I know aren't too popular here, please read the deal first before casting your vote. I have stated the full price of £432 as I believe that's what you're meant to do with redemption deals?

The phone is free on a twelve month contract with Vodafone, with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The stated price is £36 a month, however with redemption this takes it down to only £24 a month. I know people see "redemption" and turn around the other way, and that's fine, but honestly they give you TWO MONTHS to send in the required bills. Also, in your account with Dialaphone, it clearly states for you which bills need to be sent and when. It's simple and straight forward to follow. There's no excuse to not get the cashback.

There's also £50 in Quidco cashback, which takes this phone down to a monthly rate of £19.83.

Over the course of the twelve month contract that's only £238! The cheapest I can find this mobile on PAYG is £339.99 @ Play. A hundred pound less and you get all of that every month, and no up front cost.

I know it isn't dual core, etc., etc., but please read the reviews, especially the one at TechRadar, look at some YouTube videos to take a closer look at the phone and how utterly stunning it looks and see what you think.

Hopefully this deal is useful to some of you.

Thanks.

**If you click through to the link, simply change the contract length to twelve months in the search options and you'll see the deal. I can't link to it directly.""

**Redemption is now even easier and safer, thanks to this information from Gazzie:""

"Alternatively we will accept a screen shot of your online billing account attached to an email. Please forward to cc@dialaphone.com.

When sending in your redemption claims please ensure your personal details name, address and mobile number are showing on the mobile bill; these are required as this is how we verify your redemption claim all the details need to match the information we hold on our system. if you make any changes please update these on My Account via our website before you submit you redemption claim."

Thanks. I'm interested to hear from people who already have the Arc S, or the original Arc as they're very similar phones, because I'm very much looking to get this deal myself. I just want to hold back and see what the general consensus is before I go on ahead.

This seems like an excellent deal so heat added. You may want to add that the contract is with Vodaphone somewhere in your description and title :)

I know it's not all about looks, but wow...this phone. It looks absolutely stunning! I'm selling my iPhone 4 at the moment and I really want an Xperia Arc S! I've been drooling over the pictures.

Plus, I worked it out, as I've been weighing up a number of phones, and there's a £440 difference over the course of the year between this phone and the 32GB iPhone 4S I was going to get from Tesco - and that's using a friends 10% staff discount! That's unbelievable.

Ah, sorry, I'm on my phone and didn't see this post. I'll edit the title and include it now. Thank you :)

I'll be honest, I've never had a contract that relied on cashback via redemption before, but I've done a lot of reading into it, Dialaphone redemption specifically, and it appears to be incredibly straight forward. A lot more so than it used to be, as you now have a whole two months to send in the required bill. I can't see why anyone would have issues with it so long as they follow the procedure.

Gonna go ahead and order this myself within the next hour or so. Any other comments/thoughts before I do? Thanks :)
    2003bluecat
Dialaphone cheques I've received always mention how it's owned by or part of phones4u group, so it's pretty legitimate, some people may have had issues with other companies I suppose.

Well I just added some heat to that deal, so it's gone from -83 to -78! :)

In all seriousness, though, this website is just so weird and random sometimes. I mean, no way did your deal deserve to be minus 80 something, and while this has faired better, it should be a LOT hotter than 50 I reckon. It's a hundred quid less than the phone itself and you get a years worth of calls, texts, etc! Madness.

    Thanks for your comment, anyhow.

Did you go for the phone in the end?

I'ev done cashback for years, don't think ever with dial a phone, usually e2save, onestopphoneshop and carphone warehouse directly - as they own the first 2 I mentioned! I've been saving hundreds of pounds over the last 5-7yrs? I cant remember how long but I averaged between £540 -£600+ for 18month contracts so cost was free! or a pound a month depending on whats going at the time!
    ^thats for basic handsets.

I had a quick look at the (now old) arc and sgs2 today. the screens look very impressive! maybe too colourful but I'd love a screen that sharp and bright.

Just gone for this - finally! It's a great deal for me, even if some others don't think so. And yes, this is one last final bump, only to see if helps and/or appeals to anyone else :)

Thanks OP - taken the plunge on this as my OSF is on it's last legs. Very good deal. Missed out on the quidco as my stupid card despite saying Visa Debit showed up on their system as an Electron and so couldn't complete the deal. Rang them up and they said it is a fault with co-op - which is true as I have been turned down from using it on the train as well. Anyway as a good will gesture they credited my account with £25 so all is not lost.

Just need to get my head round the redemption deal. Incidentally they said that they would be fulfilling the deal through Phones4U.

Looks like a super piece of kit - I used the Arc in the shop a few weeks ago and liked it very much. Surprised this isn't hotter.

You're welcome, Siddas. I'm glad I was able to help just one other person; it makes posting this deal worthwhile now.

The first thing I'm going to do when I get my new phone on Wednesday is add an alarm/reminder for each and every stage of the redemption process so that I don't forget. I've always been good in that regard and well organised, so I don't think I'll have any trouble. I just want to make sure. I can always drop you a PM each time it's due as well, just as a reminder, to both you and me! ;)

It really does look like a super piece of kit, though, as you say. Especially as it's £340 to buy sim free! I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm also very surprised this isn't hotter, but oh well. I'm not bothered about the heat, I just want to make this deal aware to people as I think it's a really good one.

Enjoy your new phone! Let me know how you get on with it :)

That would be cool if you would do that Winspiration as I have a head like a sieve! I have never done a redemption deal before but this was just too good to miss out on. So once again thanks for giving people the heads up.

I have just ordered some screen protectors off Ebay which should be here in a couple of days. Drop me a pm with your address and I will stick a few in the post to you.

Incidentally I will be wanting to root this phone so I can strip all the bloat off it and set it up as I want it. Where would be the best place to read up on doing that? Any ideas?

My phone arrived an hour or so ago and, while not wanting to sound like a giddy little child on Christmas Day morning, I know I'm going to when I say that I am in love!

I've seen a lot of pictures and watched a lot of videos regarding this phone, but still, I can't believe how thin and how light it is. It's super light. How they can cram so much into such a thing, I'll never know. I'm really, really pleased with it.

It's on charge at the moment and apparently it has to be switched off until it's all activated? But from what I've seen so far, it's great and easy to use, incredibly responsive, internet browsing is fast, the camera is amazing and the phone is just beautiful to look at and hold.

If you're reading this and you're on the fence regarding this phone, I say most definitely go for it! :)

Any questions or what you, feel free to post here or PM me, as some of you have already.

Not sure if anyone can help me with this question though - what are the chances that ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), or Android 4.0 will come out for this phone, bearing in mind that it is not a dual core porcessor ? And if so, any estimate on how long it would take ?

    Thanks

I had a 12 month redemption deal with Dialaphone recently and got cashback paid in 4 steps. The cheque arrived quickly every time. Just set yourself reminders in your calendar/smartphone and you will never miss it. It was just a case of sending the first page of the bill to an address.

I'm incredibly new to the Android scene, however as far as I'm aware, I don't think ICS will be available on this phone, I'm afraid. I think it requires 1GB RAM, whereas this is only 512. I'm not too fussed about ICS, as this is only a twelve month contract and I can move onto ICS then, but I know it might not be ideal for those who want to get on board with ICS from the get go.

Thanks, I know a couple of people are worried about dealing with redemption, so that should put their mind at ease a little.

With the phone comes about twelve pieces of paper which details absolutely everything you need to know regarding the contract, including the dates and windows for each stage of the redemption offer.

For example, for the first stage (February 19th for me), the claim must be received by April 19th. For the second stage (April 19th), it must be received by June 19th, etc., etc. With a full two months to get the claim into them, you should have no worries, especially if you follow amuneer's advice.

Very good deal IMO. I'd be tempted but I've got an X10 at the minute and fancy a change. HTC seem to be more reliable in getting Android updates out to their customers than Sony so may give them a go.

Having said that, with only a 12 months contract it is very tempting.

Thanks Winspiration. What you said makes total sense, I have also just read that ICS makes use of Hardware Acceleration (GPU) as well by default....so a double blow to the chances of an ICS upgrade in the future.
Such a shame, as I think this is the best looking phone of the lot (including the newly announced Nexus Galaxy and the Droid Razr)....especially in white, it looks awesome.

Seriously tempted, due for an upgrade with T-Mob in January but I doubt they can offer me a better deal than this, especially for 12mths, and at £238 (I will remember to send the bills) it's a snip. The question is can a Student afford a £36pm contract?

Great deal this. I have the standard Arc, and would like to let everyone know thAt there have been reports on the net that SE confirmed that all Xperia devices released in 2011 will get the ICS update.

Now for my question for the tech guys here. I flashed my Arc back to 2.3.2, rooted and updated to 2.3.3 OTA. I used the generic UK Rom, but my phone is saying the software is up to date - am I likely to receive the updates or will I need to reflash my Rom to go beyond 2.3.3?

Sensation has a dual core processor, while SE Arc S is single core. I have an Arc (with a slower processor than Arc S) and I found the browsing to be fast, and smooth. I never had any issues so far.

Sensation may be a tad better in browsing...But SE Arc S is no inferior in browsing, has a better battery and if you're looking for a better camera, and drop dead looks, just go for SE Arc S.
