Looks like a good deal if you eat out at chain restaurants regularly. With PAYG phones starting at £4.95 and requiring minimum £10 top-up looks like it's worth a punt. Click on the tastecard links and enter postcode to see restaurants in you area that are signed up.

Do these tastecards come with chips?

I wouldn't get excited about the tastecard offer. One restuarant listed on the website I tried recently refused to give me the 50% off, said they would only give a max of 30% and another one that I went to had overinflated prices to start with anyway and has pulled out of the scheme altogether now. Tatsecard offer is normally only available on off peak days and contrary to their claim of adding more restaurants, i think that the number of venues is dwindling.

Had the free 3 months Tastecard offer and worked every time with La Tasca, Zizzi etc.
£5 Quidco , £4.95 phone + £10 topup = £9.95 for a year Tastecard and maybe sell the phone anyway.
Top offer.

you've been to chains, I have been to the independent smaller restuarants

This was originally only with PAYG phones over £50 so this is HOT!

yes, but there are regularly essentially free payg phones available (ie £10.xx for phone incl £10 topup and also with quidco/tcb), too.

But the 10 top up is a bit useless if you're not on PAYG I guess, I didn't realised that tastecards are only 3 pounds on ebay, thanks for that, will be buying one there!

Anyone tried this? I ordered a Nokia 1800 for £14.95 and even though the receipt included in my order said TasteCard in the list of items, it wasn't included. Called customer services and they kept saying its for phones over £44.95. After lots of arguing and CS agent going from dept to dept, they admitted this offer is valid and for this week only. I got an apology and they said my Taste Card voucher will be posted soon. Very annoyed that I have to go through all of that!!
#15
Oh I forgot to vote hot, will be doing so now :)

Got 2 £2.95 phones each came with a Tastecard - **** to scratch off the panels to reveal the 8 digit codes. In the end needed a magnifying glass and lots of patience.
Registered one for myself and one for my daughter.
Quidco tracked for both.
So for £7.95 each I have a backup phone with £10 credit and a years Tastecard.
Tastecards have to be redeemed by the 28th Feb.

On the Tastecard itself it said it was valid till some time in June/July but on a PDF I saw it says 28th Feb. It's a right mess!

Not worth anything like £69.95, but still a decent freebie.

Am I missing something here? The image on the link says it's only valid with PAYG purchases over £44.95?

I got 2 of these a couple of months ago.. Binned them, absolutely nothing of interest to me.

I cant believe they actually charge for these.
#23
I've never had a problem with the tastecard, in fact its been an excellent addition to my wallet.
been to several restaurants in London who have all been more than happy to accept the card for a full 50% off. The restaurants I have been to are independent ones too.

good deal

McDonalds not cheap enough already?

Offer was there this morning but it looks like its expired now. Shame the deal only got hot today!!
#26
Yup, now saying you have to spend over £49 to qualify. Shame only hearing about this on the last day, ah well.

It can be an annoying scheme, often no better than the free toptable website. But if you do have a favourite local restaurant that takes them it can be a massive bargain. Mainly its for Londoners though.

My family have saved a small fortune with the Tastecard but we do eat out quite often. As previously posted they are currently £2.50 on fleabay so grabbed myself a couple for the next 12 months.

Yeah but the one's on ebay are a voucher to use on the tastecard website, not the cards themselves

Ordered a PAYG yesterday from CPW but no mention of this offer - how do you get the 8 digit code referred to on the Tastecard link?

Found it, in case anyone else wants to know:

Am I eligible?

This offer is available to all Pay monthly phones and any Pay as you go phone worth over £44.95 bought from us between 4 January and 30 June (inclusive).
How to get your free 12 month tastecard

When you get your new phone you should get a tastecard scratch card with it.

1. Scratch off the panel on the card to reveal your unique eight digit code
2. Visit http://www.tastecard.co.uk/redeem and enter your unique eight digit code and details as requested
3. Click 'send me my free card'

Your tastecard will then be sent to you by post, this will take up to 14 days.

These instructions are also printed on the scratch card.

I doubt it unless the sellers who have stolen them are are thicker than a very thick thing, since for the one I bought the seller used their Carphone Warehouse email address in the payment details. And they had a *lot* of cards to sell.

card needs to be redeemed by 28th FEB ... TODAY

so this deal is about to be expired

EDIT
Someone told me that the expiry date on these redemption cards is June 2011 .. Taste Card is the best. Plenty of savings to be had and no messing about with vouchers.

See a couple of posts back - if CPW are running this offer until 30 June, the cards aren't going to expire today. (_;)

Iwork for CPW. This deal has been indeed going on for a bit now.

There's 2 different cards atm. The one that just expired are cards we have had since january, they did indeed expire yesterday. Now the new ones was sent to us 2 weeks ago which as mentioned by other members expire later in june.. This was to cover the special promo "which wasn't promoted well" where you got a voucher card with any phone purchase. Usually it would have to be a payandgo product of £44.95. You get one free if you sign a contract regardless.

The promo was throughout half term. The vouchers are not tied to any customer and are upto the sales assistant to give them to you, so sometimes they may forget. Its better to ask if you want one now, as many have plenty still. But you are going to have to be quick as we send back the left overs. What you see on ebay are real vouchers but possibly rogue employees pinching them for profit.

Hope that answers enough.
