Not voting on this as I don't know enough about other current offers etc but you have to be careful with Tiscali's offers. The £15.99 per month is only for the first 3 months then it increases to £19.99 a month (the anytime offer increases to £24.99 per month).....

Usual 12 month contract and you need a BT line.....
#2
why's it getting so cold in here... pls explain before hitting "cold"
#3
Is this for existing customers too ?
#4
only £19.99 a month
For 1st 3 months then just £24.99. BT line required so your paying £10 or more to BT + £19.99 to Tiscali for three months which then goes up to £24.99 a month.

I'll stick with my £19.99 virgin pack and freeview recorder. (Virgin don't have sky news!)

I think you don't pay line rental to BT it's included in the tiscali deal.

better than sky + if you like horrid sub broadcast picture quality that is.....

That sudenly occured to me when I was thinking about this deal during my lunch break. Still £5 more than I'm paying now for no real gain (my own personal use) so I'll pass.

Didn't vote either way.

monkeynuts: you dont pay tv line rental, you get unlimited international and UK calls, you dont pay for a pvr, u get sky 1. I was looking at virgin, but went for this instead.

garethyoung: this must explain the coldness. i hope it has improved since the early homechoice days. otw i already have sky box to fall back on plus idtv.

I gathered hence my last post saying. So as I don't have a BT line I would have to pay to get it reactivated then move across to Tiscali. It still works out at £24.99 a month after the first three months (as I already pointed out) which would be £5 more than I curently pay for BB, telephone with free evening and weekends and Virgin TV with catch up TV. As I already have a freeview, hard drive and DVD recorder, this deal would not benefit me as I don't need Sky 1 and Sky 2.

Is that clear enough?

On the face of it looks like a great deal but I keep reading that Tiscalli have terrible reputation when it comes to customer service. Thats enough to steer well clear!

Update: Reconnect or get a new line
All our lines come with a great value Calling Plan

It's easy to reconnect or get a new line installed. If you only want a BT line, choose the Unlimited Weekend Plan:

Only pay line rental of £10.50 a month1
Get free Weekend calls to UK* landlines
There may be a £124.99 connection charge. We'll let you know if this applies once you've ordered and we've made some checks.
More on this

To order, choose your Calling Plan first and then click through to sign up, choosing the
'I need a new line' option.

So, for me, this is defo not a hot deal.

Well I must disagree, I have been with Tiscali for a good few years and have the full package, I started getting problems with my connection dropping, got through to customer services quickly explained my problems, and they sent out a engineer, he could not resolve the problem, we then found out it was because my phone line ran through the middle of a tree ! anyway they re routed my line, And kept ringing me in the mean time to see if I was happy with the service and also gave me £50.00 compensation, which I didnt ask for :-D
#13
jeanettethree: what is your picture quality like? starting to have 2nd thoughts. might cancel order if it really is that bad
#14
Tiscali are terrible. avoid at all costs!
everybody i know who has been with them has had awful customer service, me included. the connection keeps dropping for no reason, and they can bever find a fault. also the 'shape' bandwidth, so if you are a heavy downloader they cap your download speeds without letting you know. At peak times the internet crawls (even with an 8Mbit connection)
the best move ever was to move over to BT - more expensive but you really do get what you pay for!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! STTTTTTTTTTTTOPPP, do not even attempt to sign with tiscali!! They are the worst of all the broadband providers. Trust me i could tell you story that would last a few pages but i have done that before & i just want to stop having the terrible nightmares!!!:w00t::x:x:x. Just avoid avoid avoid them. Seriously

If they offered me broadband free for life, I still would not go with them. That say's a lot, cos i don't normally turn down free things!!

Again, don't do it to yourselves!!!:santa:

Just leaving tiscali for AOL.I would be very surprised if you can obtain enough speed off these muppets to actually watch TV.I cannot even watch youtube without pauses!

Well Im shocked with the comments on here really, Honestly I have never had any problems with Customer services ? as other people are saying I was dealt with quickly and efficantly, As for the picture quality its great !, Ill try and take a pic of the tv to show you, We have it in the bedroom (the tiscali TV that is !) and if the quality of the pic was bad I wouldnt have it,
These pics have been took by my phone so are not brilliant but gives you a idea.

Okay, just to add my slice:

Based on customer service they are shocking - i couldn't leave them quick enough for Sky BB and have never looked back. IMO they were worse than Bulldog (when Bulldog were owned by C&W and not Tiscali). Bizzare how they now own Bulldog.

Would never touch with a 10ft one.

LOL @ the poster who wouldn't even have service with them if is was free :-D
#19
Good deal. I have been with them for about 1 year now and before that with Homechoice. I have good service and very fast broaband. On my experience alone i will recommend them.
#20
Good deal. As a Tiscali customer I've never had to call them because I've had no problems. Fast, cheap unlimited broadband, free 01/02 numbers anytime and Tv with a decent variety. No digital text on Tv so if that's your thing then go elsewhere. Recommended.
#21
Is this similar to BT vision i.e. you need to be able to receive freeview?
#22
i already have tiscali tv. can i get the free tiscali + pvr??
or do i have to be a new customer
#23
apparently it pulls freeview channels off the air, the rest including on-demand off the web.

if u are an existing customer, call up and threaten to go to virgin. if they dont offer it, then say u will sign up for 12 more months if they give u the package.

btw tiscali ltd is up for sale & there are rumors that tiscali will be bought by talktalk (carphone w) so cust servs will get a boot up the backside. i think this deal is offered as the more customers they have the higher the sale value of the company.

the web will crawl when progs are downloading- i expect that. i am in an adsl2+ area, so that should help.

assett- pls give ur experience with the service.

im gonna stick with the order. thanks jeanette and others for ur help

That's a shocking picture..... oh wait, she actually does look like that. :p
#25
Didn't Tiscali win the last JD Power survey of broadband providers for customer satisfaction?
#26
i think it did, but when you have a bad experience, you rant about it. when you are happy with it, you take it for granted... until you take part in a survey!
i'm sure if i put a sky or virgin offer up, it would get shot down by the vociferous minority.
#27
Tiscali seem to get not much of a good rating here though.
