"Free TiVo Box activation: Irrespective of the number of set-top boxes you already have, for every new sale - If you take a 500GB TiVo box as your first box, the activation fee will be waived; if you take a 1TB TiVo box as your first box, we will reduce the activation fee to £49.95. Standard installation fee of £49.95 applies. "
It's free for new customers
Ring and the'll waive the installation fee, and would you not expect a new contract if you were getting something for free????
sorry didn't realize the difference between activation and instalation. To be honest for me is the same thing!
Anyhow, does anyone know if this works fine as a media player? Divx, Mkvs? from say a readynas?
That £3 a month must be paying for something
why are you paying that? Ive got V+ box and not paying anything... look into it.

It's a TiVo system, far faster than the old V+ box and far far easier to use, with a multitude of search and automatic record options. 3 tuners as well, if you can find three shows much worth watching being broadcast simultaneously. Also combines with VoD and the iPlayer facilities of lots of channels.
Whoever said it had loads of bugs - don't believe the whingers' forums, which by definition are full of people with there to complain. I've had my TiVo for almost a year now and it's performed flawlessly. The only thing wrong with it is that the remote isn't backlit. But then it's so simple to use you can do it in the dark - the V+ remote was such a dog's dinner it was hard to use even with all the lights on...
Ring 'em up and ask nicely and they will waive installation. It is certainly worth £3 a month for all the extra features and ease of use.
