Free Tivo for Existing Virgin Media Customers then £3.00/month

dromidromi

Having a quick look at the Tivo systems, and realized there isn't any cost UP FRONT. You will pay £3 pounds a month though.

Cold, you still have to pay £49.95 "Installation" fee, if you are an existing customer:

"Free TiVo Box activation: Irrespective of the number of set-top boxes you already have, for every new sale - If you take a 500GB TiVo box as your first box, the activation fee will be waived; if you take a 1TB TiVo box as your first box, we will reduce the activation fee to £49.95. Standard installation fee of £49.95 applies. "

    It's free for new customers

What's the advantage of this? Is there any more functionality than the current V+ HD boxes?

That £3 a month must be paying for something

Hmmm I'm paying 5 quid a month for a V+ box. If I can get the to waive the 49.95 installation fee this looks like a great deal to me

I got this about 2 months back. When I rang up they offered me a nice deal. I paid the £49 activation fee and the £3 extra per month (getting to keep my V+HD box in another room). I had the XL TV, 20mb broadband & basic phone package. My bill used to be £56p/m then tivo took it up to £59 then they offered to reduce the entire bill to £47p/m. So now i'm better off than I was before I had Tivo (and actually before this offer I had considered getting another HD box for another room at an extra £5 p/m). My advice, its worth just talking through the package with them...it couldn't hurt!

It's a TiVo system, far faster than the old V+ box and far far easier to use, with a multitude of search and automatic record options. 3 tuners as well, if you can find three shows much worth watching being broadcast simultaneously. Also combines with VoD and the iPlayer facilities of lots of channels.

Whoever said it had loads of bugs - don't believe the whingers' forums, which by definition are full of people with there to complain. I've had my TiVo for almost a year now and it's performed flawlessly. The only thing wrong with it is that the remote isn't backlit. But then it's so simple to use you can do it in the dark - the V+ remote was such a dog's dinner it was hard to use even with all the lights on...

Ring 'em up and ask nicely and they will waive installation. It is certainly worth £3 a month for all the extra features and ease of use.
