I think this offer is for Non-cable Broadband?

Thanks for the pointer :pirate:

Virgin Free TV!

If you live outside of a cable area we now offer Free TV with no monthly subscription.
With Virgin Free TV you’ll have access to over 40 Digital channels including the basic channels you love plus loads more, like ITV 2, E4, BBC News 24 and Film4. The Free TV box simple to install and easy to use - just plug ‘n’ play. And it’s one of the smallest and most stylish digital boxes out there.
So, what’s the deal?
Well, this new TV service comes completely free with Unlimited Broadband and Talk Bundle One – there’s no upfront fee for the box and no ongoing monthly charge for your TV service.
Bundle One is £19.99 a month, and for that you’ll get:
Your choice of Virgin Free TV or a free Wireless Kit Up to 8 Mbps broadband Unlimited Anytime calls to UK landlines PCguard Total - complete protection for your PC
Think its a bit crafty making out you get "Free" tv when all it is is a freeview box which is free to view anyway
you have to live in a freeview area :x
I'm already on that package, so does that mean I can get the box? Or is it only to new customers? Any peeps on here on cable BB don't realise how lucky they are. The house I just bought is only adsl so I went with the virgin mob adsl. 8 megs..... MY ARSE!! Lucky if I get just above 3.

Yeah, I just noticed that. The free TV ain't worth ****** all to me, as I already have a freeview box. The reception I get is crap even though i'm meant to get it ok. I won't ever have cable as I live in an area that has a bee up it's a$$ about putting cable down. My broadband coverage allowed me, last time I had it, to get a dire 512kbps when everyone else got 2mb or more. All because I live a mere 5km from an exchange. I have to use wi-fi proper, as it's the only way I can get a decent broadband service. BT tells me, via it's availability checker, that I can get broadband
I know that I can GET bb **twats**, I wanna know how fast it will go if I do get it! BT are a bunch of dweebs when it comes to the internet. We live in the tech dark ages in this country. Japan makes us look completely incompetant, as a country that once ruled the waves. We don't rule jack nowadays.

(rant over)

So the be all and end all of this deal, for me, is that i'll probably manage 1mb bb, no free TV, anytime calls which I get with my mobile anyway and a PC security suite chucked into the deal. I'll stick with my trusty wi-fi setup. It ain't perfect, but at least it's adaquate. BTW, I live 30m from Central London. Yeah, great being in the wilderness isn't it?

can i ask whats wi fi proper

only ask as moving to the country soonish where theres no cable and broadband speeds seem to be upto 1mbps if lucky

In certain localities, wireless broadband is available. is the one that serves the Chelmsford area of Mid-Essex. Take a look around their site to give you an idea of what it is all about. There are companies supplying most areas where broadband is limited. Google will pull up a potential supplier for your area.

I use the phrase 'wi-fi proper' as a lot of companies try to pull a fast one by advertising 'wireless broadband', when all they mean is that they will give you bb down a phoneline and feed it to your PC with a wi-fi router. It is one of the biggest deceptions around at the moment IMO.
W20 will put an antenna on your roof and feed it to your router inside the house. You are not limited to BTs abysmal coverage with wi-fi.
Hope that helps adr0ck
