Might be able to pinch a token from someone's paper, but certainly wouldn't pay a £1 for that crap.
I'd rather pay £2 for the bacon than have to scan through that drivel to save a quid. (though I guess it's hot if you get it anyway)

There are 2 ways to cure bacon. Most supermarket bacon is cured in brine which has added chemicals so the meat soaks up more water, just like cheap chicken. Obviously, the water evaporates as you cook it, leaving the sludge behind. Best to grill this type of bacon.

Look for dry cure bacon which is cured by rubbing salt into the meat. Usually a lot dearer in the supermarkets. However, you can get one at a decent price in Lidl. I buy dry cure bacon from a butcher, sliced as you order it. It is very tasty and not too expensive at about £5 per kilo for the middle rashers. You can fry this bacon as there is little moisture to come out of it so none of the sludge and little spitting.

The butcher is Hancocks in Monmouth, who also make their own sausages. I recommend the Kitchener variety, made from 95% uncured pork, with just some salt & herbs added.
I'd bet almost any half-decent butcher has bacon that is FAR superior to this.
I've visted morrisons twice to get the free bacon but each time out of stock, hoping that this weekend they will have some as the offer runs out on 23rd
