There is a setup fee of £9 which covers their domain cost. Still pretty good though if the service is reliable.
#2
Not free as you have to pay a £9.00 set-up cost - but still a good bargain

plus quidco? http://www.quidco.com/one-com-gb/

means a £1 profit (if it tracks that is)

As you say... IF?!?

Are there charges at the end if you transfer?

Probably best to register your domain with a cheap domain registrar such as 123-reg or 1&1 and keep it with them rather than transfer to one.com. Just change the name servers to point to theirs and keep your eggs in different baskets so to speak. Also, would that mean the hosting is complete free?
#6
It appears not...

Web Space Small - 12 months GBP 10.80
- Discount - Web Space Small GBP -10.80
Domain transfer (.co.uk) GBP 2.00
- Discount - Domain transfer (.co.uk) GBP -2.00
Setup fee GBP 9.00
Total excl. VAT. GBP 9.00

been looking around and found people give not so good reviews about them.
#8
You get what you pay for with cheap hosting... so i'd stay clear. Worth spending a bit more and getting something better. If you just want something for a mess about you can get actual free deals if you look hard enough, better than £9 anyways.

Already posted and colded - http://www.hotukdeals.com/?m=9325 !! But hot for me... I took one few weeks back!

as with everything read the T&C's carefully. Some things to note about this company they are quite restrictive : (from memory )you can only cancel in the last 90days of every year, you bcan only have one website on your massive allowance.

They are cheap , reliable & give you massive allowences compared to the others.

Check before you commit yourself , web hosting has some really strange and infuriating rules

Its always better to check webhostingtalk when looking for hosting. Quite a few good reliable hosts advertise on there. You also get exclusive WHT Discounts. Got a £12 hosting package down to £4 (with a 1 day halloween special)

Check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

qiq.co.uk is miles better - Use BDAY10 code to get the £20 a year package down to just 99p - You get 10Gb of webspace and 10Gb/month bandwidth as well as all the usual bells and whistles (inc 5 mysql databases).

Hi all,

I'm I aloud to place a link to our website here ? as we advertise a site ( we use them ) that offers free hosting for ever, we are not allowed to place company's name in any forum as it part of they T&C but we can give you link to our site, also you can buy domain for £5.88 for two years co.uk AND you own it

5 GB Space - FREE
300 GB Bandwidth - FREE!

I prefer dreamhost myself... There was a deal code a while ago which i believe was HUKDMAX which discounted $97 dollars of a years hosting which all in all with a .com reg and a years hosting cost £14 for the whole year., they're an excellent service, they've never let me down and if you don't want to renew, just move the domain away at the end of the year (at no cost).

Incremementing space and bandwidth (which is generous anyway) and if you are quick you might back unlimited as part of their birthday promotion...

I second this, i've used QiQ and they have been good with me. The SQL is a real bonus, you can get a nice wordpress site up on there etc...

I find one.com awesome for my needs.

Have been with them for a year now, and will be transferring my other domain to them also when it expires.

I've had NO downtime, and have always been able to contact support for any reason within 5 minutes - at no cost.

Ample bandwidth and space available.

The only downside I've found is that the control panel requires you to be using windows, and with internet explorer - which sucks as i have a mac with firefox - but easy to get around when using VMWare.

ftp access is a breeze, as is configuring and designing a site from scratch using their templates.

thumbs up from me - voted hot as i like this company and all this hosting for free makes it worth while! (hosting is free, its the domain which costs money)

awesome timing, just looking for some hosting. I was about to punt £70 at another provider ...

whats 1&1 like???? I've got a couple of websites on there! But not sure if i should change to some1 else?
#20
i'm with 1and1 and everything was fine until i wanted to close down the hosting and just go with domain forwarding and email. right pain in the ar$e and had so much downtime with them on the Windows hosting.

So I moved to Dreamhost 2 years ago and for the £7 a month I pay I have more space I can shake a stick at and bandwidth.
Get the odd moment of slowness but nothing major, just a pain if you need to register a .co.uk domain with them.

One.com offer has been around for quite a while now, tempted with the offer when it first came out but reviews didn't sing the right tune for me.

I used to be with 1&1, a little tip not sure if it would work for others or not.

I didnt want to renew but as i hadnt cancelled they auto renewed my domain (kinda good if incase you want to keep it but forget to renew) anyway, they renewed it and not not knowing it but i owed them £11 ish.

I had already go on to thier site and cancelled my account before i they told me i owed them the cash via an email invoice. They said the only way to pay was threw my web account with them. As my account was shut i rung them explaining i couldn't log to pay as no longer had an account with them so they cancelled the bill and i didnt get charged a penny.

I have a website and I have had no problems with it, people are saying one.com has had bad reviews, but, on my site the pictures load fast and I have configured it to run oscommerce software, so customers can purchase and pay by Paypal, etc. Also, do quidco £10 tracked fine for me and received £10, so cost only 58p for one year see below:

Date Merchant Amount Earnings Status Payment Date

16 May 2008 00:00:00 Kelkoo 0.00 0.02 validated ~ Nov 2008
16 May 2008 12:59:12 B-One 10.58 10.00 received ~ Nov 2008

i cant seem to get quidco to work :x
#25
IF quidco tracks its well worth it tbh, might risk it..
#26
I've got 3 sites hosted with these guys, and never had any problems. Their support is also top shelf. You could do a lot worse than these guys.
#27
Hosting is cheap nowadays. I have a reseller account which I mess about with for sites for myself and friends and could offer anyone here email, webspace, cpanel, mysql, Fantastico etc.. on reliable uk servers for £12 year. Ive yet to hear of the servers going down!
PM me if u r interested :)
#28
Cold because it's not actually free.

I have quite a lot of domains hosted on both 1&1 and easily. Not had any problems with either of them.
Out of the 2 the easily front end is easier to use, but that's not to say the 1&1 console is hard to use.
You wont got wrong with either.

Avoid the "free" or ultra cheap Hosts / registrars. There is always a catch.

my quidco tracked on this fine. Great deal heat & rep added! Also fine for .com domains which are usually more expensive!
