No - you dont get any contact at all with Renault - it is Avis that just come and pick up the car - It is just someone that comes and picks the keys up from you on the monday morning
sbfc#11
PS - You can book the weekend you want it so if you have a trip planned later in the year then you can book it for then

It mentions in the T&C's that a £200 pound will be debited for insurance purposes at time of delivery. Is this correct?

This is normal for car hire (infact its usually ALOT more) - If you dont crash the car then you dont get charged - it is the excess you would need to pay if you crash it

i think they take 200 and if you return it in good condition they will refund that. its basically a excess.

i had a megane thru this deal last month, dropped it off on friday, i used it once , and it wouldnt start after that, they are absolutely pants, push button starts are not worth it , especially when made with french electronics... oh and after they come collect your car , RENAULT DO CALL YOU TRYING TO SELL YOU A CAR.... they rang me, but didnt try again when i told them how ununreliable it was..lol
mattyoakley#26
they also dont take any money off you, they just take your credit card details incase of damage or an accident, then they will charge you the £200 excess....funniest bit of the whole deal, when its the day to have the car collected, they ask you to leave the car open and put keys on top of sun visor, no offence, but surely the average car thief would know this, steal the car and leave you with £200 excess to pay? lol

I booked this in January so can tell you the following:

- I didn't know anyone who actually got a diesel, even when specified. Therefore assume you will always get a 1.6 Petrol (which isnt very economical I must add)

- I have not received any calls from Renault or any hard selling (just an email survey to ask what I thought)

- It's a good offer, cannot fault a free car for the weekend (or 24 hours)

- I was impressed with the car, generally not a fan of french cars, but this one looked nice and nice little touches (stop/start button etc).

Has anybody tried making booking for the long weekend in April/May. I have booked in for May 1, 2 & 3, not quite sure how the Friday - Monday works in this scenario.

good point - I wish I had thought of this - I think they will drop it off on friday and pick it up tuesday.

Might be worth doing over easter - Thursday till tuesday.

Ring and ask if this will happen

I booked one about 5 or 6 years ago (a Laguna for a 24 hour test drive). When I turned up at the dealers (Felling by-pass in Gateshead) with my license they didn't have a clue what I was on about.
I'd booked it through the Renault website, the manager of the dealership didn't even know their was a promotion on and said that Renault were always doing things like this to him.
I was goosed because I'd arranged for my car to go in for a service that day and I need a car for work!

Heat added though - and I've booked one for April. Can't see this going wrong with it being through Avis.

i saw this on that piston heads website. I checked the T+C last time this deal was on and decided at 22 i was old enough. When the car got here they told me i had to be 25 and i couldnt get it. Now the website says 25. gutted

i ve done this last year with Laguna, booked for certain weekend, but wait another 2 due to long waiting queue. But it is really good when I have the car with high specification, heated seat, curise control, auto air con etc. AVIS guy dropped the key in my company receiption due to i was out. Collected the key on Monday about 11am, no inspection of the car at all, just took the key and went staright away.

Booked this one for this month, dont mind to wait another 2or 3 weeks after the date i booked.

SUPER HOT DEAL!!!!!

Booked for weekend starting friday 20th march, hope it turns up.

I am currently 24. I turn 25 in July. Will I be able to book a car now for a date after July?
bulkomuffbanned#40
will the vehicle come with avis livery all over it?
fosjoh3#41
What if you don't have the £200 deposit/excess available on your credit/debit card?
friendlyfire321#42

No, it shouldn't do. Avis normally only keep these cars for about a month and then they go back to the dealers to be sold as an ex demo. As hardly anyone is buying new cars it is easier for them to sell ex demos cheaper minus the VAT etc compared to a full price brand new car.

Great find. I am due to visit my Sister in London later in the year so have booked onefor the weekend. Will save the wear and tear on my car.

Just booked for Weekend of 1st May, Hopefully get an even longer weekednd due to Bank Holiday.

Its nice that there is no max mileage. I have done a few of the 'extended' test drives before with KIA, TOYOTA and Peugeot. They had max mileage rules!

Thanks.Heat added.

If you dont have the deposit then they will not go ahead with the rental. They take £200 if you are using a debit card but if you use your credit card they only block £80. Dont ask me why thats what they told me when i had one 2 weeks ago for the tip run which is all it was good for imo
