This offer is only available to 4 & 10 Meg Broadband connections on NTL Telewest!

Call customer services on & ask for the free WIFI router kit, not sure what brand it is but will post back when I receive mine in the next couple of days!

It appears this deal is for Telewest users only....apologies for mix up as I thought NTL & Telewest were one big happy family now :(

Thanks for the good rep ;)

Any further details, where did you here the offer? what exactly did they say? any arguments
#2
The same for BT broadband customers - they will upgrade your connection speed to (close to) 8MB speed and send you a free wireless hub...

even better - the number is free phone, but it escapes me at the moment...

Hi,

Was told about the offer before Christmas by a customer services rep. Called them today about something else & just asked again & rep said no probs as long as you are on 4 or 10 meg & stay for 12 months.

Maybe they have a big push on offers soon as they are rebranding on 01/02/07 to Virginmedia?

If you call the customer retentions department you can get your 4mb cable broadband for half price for three months. I have just called to get my deal renewed. Can you get a free wifi router as well?
#10
Dang and blast, I just shelled out £50 for a DSL wireless router for my new 4Meg NTL connection. Oh well.

Any news on the proposed free upgrades (4MB->10MB, 10MB->22MB)?

Did that last year. 10MB Broadband, Unlimited CaLLS, Starter TV and extras like call waiting, answerphone etc.. fixed at £40 a month for 12 months with no contract.

Does it matter whether you call ntl or telewest customer services?

I called 0845 454 0000 which I have on the bill and the operator said he had heard nothing about them...

I will call them back again later, as their computers are down at the moment and I want them to setup a direct debit payment (I have asked them three times now to do this!!!!).

I sure hope I can get a router, mine's dieing.

I'm on Telewest 10meg and have been for a while. I called them up in November and they sent me a free router, but this locked me into another 12 month contract.

It's a Netgear WGR614 v6, which is really nice.

Was on phone for 30 mins still no answer so just put the phone down. terrible customer service:x

Its not NTL who are doing this, its Telewest. NTL wont give you one, phone TW on the above number. I tried NTL 1st with no luck, tried TW and the bloke said yes straightaway !!

Update: NO joy, after checking my acc. he said offer was TW only... NTL Customers cannot qualify :-(

Ahh well, bummer !!

That's simply unfair.

They are the same company - all customers should be treated equally.

Such is life, I suppose...
#28
Just read this in the Q&A on the TW website regarding the merger:

As a Telewest customer, can I take up ntl offers?
No. The services available to you continue to be driven by the network that passes your front door. So as a Telewest customer you can only access Telewest services.

Works the same both ways i suppose :-(
#29
I wish Blueyonder Telewest would dish out some.

edit. lol should have read the thread!

here's their geographical number as well: 0191 4256234

Hmm... they seem to have run out of stock... they say it was only on offer for a few months??
edit: on hold at the moment anyway

She's ordered it but can't guarantee that they are in stock, if they are it should arrive in the next few days.
She also didn't mention signing a contract for another 12 months.
Also they are selling WiFi adapters @ £20.

We've been signed up to the 10Mb since we moved in, which should be around 16 months or so.
#31
Just called on 150 and they say it's for new customers signing up to 4mb or 10mb broadband. They say you need to buy the router from their online shop and send in the receipt to claim up to £50 back [call them back and they give you the address when you are ready to buy].
#32
Hi,

I have had 4 meg for over 18 months so have not recently upgraded nor did i have to purchase & claim back, guess they got wise to the high number of calls......good news travels fast!
#33
I upgraded to 10mb last April so almost been their a year. Got it no probs.
#34
Is NTL and Homechoice the samr company yet? Im with homechoice...

Surely those who have been with TW for 12 months or longer can simply cancel the contract and then sign up again (if they were that desperate for it).

The offer has been around for a while, it doesnt seem such a good deal when you consider you're locked into a contract again for another 12 months (which they should be telling people!)....you can get better deals when you call them up (half price for so many months, or in some cases so many months free). If you're on the top package - it might work out better trying to get one of those deals instead.

You'd have to have your contract ended to try and get them though (otherwise you can't leave them anyway, so they don't need to offer you anything for you to stick with them)
#36
There's been no formal statement from them that you are locked back into a 12 month contract though.

hiya, im reading through these posts and thought id make a comment :) .
I have been woth telwest for over 5 years and have had good customer service, and problems sorted out promply ect. the phones are busy but if its freephone does it matter if you have to wait?.
i called before christams and asked for half price movies for a month and a cut on my bill and a router and usb ..and they have given me all par router and hub , as far as i have heard they were not giving or selling until jan and you would have to wait for it to get delivered when in stock. I was gonna ring up at end of the week and do a bit of prompting see where mine is !:)
also there was no mention of any recontracting for and period !
#39
Its netgear one i got mine ages ago they sent me an email to get a free one.. You still need to buy a network adadtop though thats not free .. But if you already have one your ok :) ..

Yep, a few people the other month never had a contract mentioned, if they don't confirm it to you, then they can't hold you to anything. But they should be telling you that information.
