Just went to the Oxford Street/Bond Street HMV to check if they still had the £35 Guitar Hero III with wireless guitar - they still do, by the way.

They are offering a Free Wireless Guitar when Purchasing a Guitar Hero Bundle. Apparently PS3 was not included, because they don't have the stand alone wireless guitar in stock.

So I asked if I could buy a £35 GHIII PS3 bundle and get a free PS2 wireless guitar. It worked.

First post and not native english, so be patient.

Adding skeeter909 clarifying post (#38):

=================================
Thanks OP - you ROCK! and now thanks to you, so do I. This is a SWEET deal. Here are some details i collected on the scenario. (OP, maybe edit your top level description to add in some of these details to save readers having to check thru the entire chain/save them time).

Just picked up a copy of GH3 for the Wii and the additional controller.

Im in London, so tried the Bond Street branch first - took awhile, but finally found the BLACK DVD CASES WITH THE DEAL PRINTED OUT ON THEM. There were no green signs around, so i assume they were taken down.

The deal is get a free additional controller for PS, XBOX or WII with ANY GUITAR HERO BUNDLE (including ON TOUR and III). This is PRINTED on the voucher in the dvd case and resolves the previous ambiguity.

IN Bond Street, The LOCATION of the DVD CASES (which are BLACK and have BLACK VOUCHER on their covers) is next to the downstairs escalators on the guitar hero accessories rack. They were kinda hard to find due to being black on a black stand and not with the actual other Wii or Xbox gear, but this will save you time. Take the DVD case with voucher up to the counter and they fetch the item from stock.

Now for the WII they had just run out of stock, at Bond street they only have XBox and PS controllers for the freebies, but plenty of the £35 GH3 packs to match them with (Wii or otherwise). I asked the very helpful guy there where else i could try - he said Oxford Street(the one towards tottenham court rd). So i went up there, asked the guy at the game counter, and he said they had a few Wii controllers in stock so i picked it up there. A Sweet deal indeed.

The Bond Street chap explained what the scene is : The bond st and oxfo street shops have a bunch of excess controllers in their stores and the managers told them (in store) to give away a free one with the bundles. This is store specific, but is happening around the country. You wont know until you try a store because the controllers being given away are the controllers originally given away free with PRE ORDERS. Hence, any store which accepts preorders or a largish HMV should have some extra controllers out back they are trying to clear out to make room.
Each store will be different tho, and they cant check which stores have stock cos these pre-order freebies are not on the system, just in each stores backroom gathering dust.

The controller being given away is a GH3 compatible controller - the Gibson model. It says Guitar Hero on it, doesnt say GH3, but in the packaging it states compatible with GH3 so dont worry.

In summary,:
- you need to try each store IN STORE to know if they have them in stock; dont just phone or such. I tried that and no one knew about it. In store by comparison they knew. Weird.
- they are excess pre-order controllers which are being given away free; hence try bigger stores if you can.
- if you are in london, as at 8.30pm Friday(closing time) - Bond St has xbox and ps controllers, Oxford St has a FEW wii, and a bunch of xbos and ps controllers to give away. Thats all the stock i know about sorry.
- if you are in london and going to BondStreet, use my notes above to simply find the DVD voucher and use it at the til to save any faffing around by staff members needing to go get their boss to confirm...etc... as its an instore deal.

Good luck. I know there is a lot of detail in there but just trying to help out those who want the info/background.

BTW - every HMV store i saw in London has absolutely LOADS of excess GH,GHWT and RockBand kit they are trying desperately to get rid of. Tons of it piled up. I am sure as eggs are eggs HMV will be discounting this stuff again, and IN STORE only, as its just consuming too much floorspace, which is expensive real estate in ole london town. I think the pricing will halve again to be frank - so if you arent getting a spare controller, might be worth holding off a week or more as HMV must be bricking it with this stuff not moving. I would extrapolate that similar scenario exists outside london.

Superb deal OP. Many MANY thanks. :-)

Apparently it works for any Guitar Hero Bundle. So if you purchase a World Tour it would work as well. It just won't work if you buy the game only (Solus).
#5
Not sure why, but I can't see this being correct. £35 quids worth for free really. Surely anyone with a bit of sense could trade this in for 60 quid. Or flebay it.

Sorry to be synical.
#6
think someone needs to ring the store and double check this.

I can see this being the guitar with the gh3 being free...and not 2 guitars

the 2 stores I just rang (Durham & Gateshead) said this deal is with World Tour - not GH3

The guitar I got for free was a PS2 "the official wireless kramer striker controller". It does not come with a game and comes with a "PRE-SELL EXCLUSIVE - NOT FOR RESALE - Free with guitar hero world tour complete band game" seal.

It is the same guitar I purchased before christmas on a GH3 bundle on the deal below for £28:

I can confirm this deal at Oxford Street/Bond Street HMV store - saw the signs myself.

Couldn't see GHIII on Xbox 360, but they have the World Tour pack for around £60.

Just been in Edinburgh Ocean Terminal HMV and the pack for £35 is the Guitar Hero Legends of Rock, they are priced down for their sale. I only saw PS3 and PS2 but I was looking for Wii. It is the pack containing the guitar and the game together. The one for PS2 was down to £28. It is nothing to do with buying a bundle.

when in leicester town bought this ghIII with guitar package thing..... and the game is addictive! but both wii and xbox360 are 35 and asfar as i could see its 1 free guitar thts included in the pack!

I bought this GH3 bundle before xmas. Paid £28 for GH3 + one wireless guitar (ps2).

I went to HMV this week to buy another one and faced this deal. Paid £35 for GH3 + one wireless guitar (ps3) and got a free ps2 wireless guitar (because they ran out of ps3 guitar only packages). The deal is an extra wireless guitar with any Guitar Hero bundle.

Oxford Street/Bond Street HMV have this for sure... I just bought one, also this includes 360 version which the main HMV on Oxford Street doesn't have.

This offer has now finished according to a phone call i just made to HMV Bond Street store!! Darn it!!!

Guitar Hero III is still £34.99 though.
#20
Offer not on anymore in the Newcastle store either, they were offering a free guitar with any bundkle previously.

Anyone got any thoughts on whether to go for the 360 or Wii version?

ASsistant said they have offer a free additional guitar if you buy the complete band pack, but not for just the guitar bundle. Thats a shame!!!

Sounds like they don't offer it over the phone - might be worth a trip into town to find out if anything is doing in person!

Indeed - that would be the key to the whole puzzle.....

Anyone try leicester square?? im about to head there.....

Let me know how you get on there.... i can try there after work aswell if need be!

Hmmm - is this ADVERTISED in store anywhere? even a hand written sign would solve the quibbling. HMV seem to have differing deals per store and per person at the store. Probably depends on their pay grade :)

For those who will try on the Oxford/Bond branch, here is how I found about the deal. It was printed on a paper put inside some DVD boxes like a leaflet, on a shelf close to the GH3 bundles, downstairs, close to the escalators. When on the till, an employee went in their stock room to get the free guitar.

Ah right - so its one of those instore things. When the boxes on the shelves run out their stock runs out essentially.

When you say oxford/bond street do you mean Selfridges? Or the one further up the street?

Anyone tried victoria station, or wandsworth/southside branches for this?

On the street, close to Selfridge's, though. But I am not sure about this stock thing, as the boxes on the shelves were the same no matter what system you were buying (ps2, wii or xbox).

It's displayed on a green sign amongst the games (on rack). I confirmed with hot young blond girl behind counter who had to ask boss.

Nothing doing in Newcastle HMV - sounds like it might be an error as they are giving away a free guitar with the full band World Tour package. Still had tons of all versions of Legends for £35 - picked up 2 as i want two guitars, so now have a spare copy of the game if anyone is interested?

Not sure. I was really only after a WII controller, but my understanding is that depending on which console you are using it can be a wired controller. Essentially the key thing is that its an authentic activision controller which are the BEST ones on the market. The clones/cheap chinese copies (which are priced at 35gbp mostly) are inferior in response and compatibility. Also build quality is better on the original controller.

Anyone out there grabbed one today? maybe updating the list of stores doing this offer? I had a look in Wandsworth out of curiosity they have no Wii ones left at all.
