The launcher can easily be changed, there are quite a few targeted at android boxes now.

I got this from eBay for £36 quid - it also has an optical out port and has the S905X chip instead of the S905, although if that makes any kind of huge difference i couldn't tell you. If you're not bothered about the keyboard, it's equally as good an option as your link, as i suppose the extra price is actually covering the cost of the keyboard so it's not really "free" at all.

There seems to be a lot of these boxes about with just a bit different branding on them for who has set them up I think. I really don't mind what it is as long as it can run Kodi smoothly in hd and pass Dolby 5.1 to my speakers. i find the Amazon fire a bit sluggish so would want an improvement on that

Not really a deal as the q box can be bought from £43.99 & the free keyboard can be bought for as little as £7.50

Not much cheaper than this price here but still a couple of quid saved on this price

These boxes are great by the way I thoroughly recommend them. Setup a handful of them now and think they're run extremely well for the cost

All your answers are below. Best reading through the recommended hardware for Kodi that has been well tried and tested. Don't waste your money on cheap cloned random boxes. You will also see the discussions about which sound it can produce etc (post #3).

Or buy some from below and they will place any old logo onto the box for yourself. Notice on the Amazon picture underneath the box it actually says OTT Box then some random company logo printed on the top.

Any recommendations for a box from ebay for around £40 including keyboard.

Seen so many and am totally confused with which one.

Preferably 2gb + 16gb and S905X chip.

I've seen the T95x, Beelink mini MXIII II, nexbox A95X etc etc
Thanks for any advice

If you are looking around this price point you are best awaiting on the next gen Fire TV stick. Pre-orders being taken now on Amazon US with shipping on 20th October. Hopefully will not be much longer to hit Amazon UK. Other than that I'd be looking for a ATV 2nd hand.

fire stick menus looks awful though, I know you just click on Kodi but something like a nexus tv menu or anything more customisable is much better (also will it have optical out ??? and Ethernet port on the low budget ones )))

Sorry was replying to the other posters requirements not your on. No optical out on Firestick but they do perform fine (well on mine anyhow) on the 5ghz WiFi channel although gen 2 is meant to have better WiFi than 1 the first gen, sure proper reviews will be seen when they ship. For yourself as I posted I would recommend going through those listed on the kodi recommend hardware forum and spend a much as you can afford. You will only end up disappointed with the android and kodi "experience" buying cheap generic clone box's with no support or updates. Never looked back myself since splashing out on a Nvidia Shield and only wish I hadn't wasted money before also on others.

Edit (after moaning to self about useless HUKD app with android 7 and editing comments never working which it only decides to tell you after you have typed lots of sentences on a mobile :( )
Without skinning a device the only devices that run true Android TV are the Nexus Player (now unsupported), MI Box which is only released in US and getting bad reviews to the point they going back to review again once a patch is released for the buggy OS and the Nvidia Shield.
Unsure about the Wetek Products only starting to look at them since a fellow HUKD poster said about them as before I has dismissed as being more for the iptv/sat market.

2nd Gen FTV stick also has a new GUI and the update should then roll out to the older devices.

tried going through that Kodi website but there's so much in it to go through !!! there needs to be more Kodi box discussion on hotukdeals but I guess it's hard with all the suppliers being a little bit dodgy... so can you get a qbox with nothing on it at all which would be safer ??
