If you are paying £17.99 a month for aol you can call them up and ask them to change it to £14.99 a month and you will get a free wireless router (Netgear i think) worth £55

Note: This will tie you in to another 12 months; but if, like me, you are happy with the service then this is a good deal!
The Number to call is: 0800 2796771

I Think the Router is the Netgear DG834G. but i will confirm on delivery!!

if it is this model then it is one of the most reccommended wireless routers around.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the pointer!

Would you kindly tell me what package were you initially having [AOL Silver I presume] and what package has been given to you now with £14.99 [Silver or Gold] per month?
Also, how did you go about getting the deal - did you call them up to say that you wanted to cancel their subscription?

BTW the £14.99 deal - is it for 3 months or 12 months?

Looking forward for the reply.

Thanks once again.

Regards,

Saabu.

To me AOL is CRAP,to many add-on with ther software.
Cant wait to get rid of them.
And if you have a problem, you get to talk to a nice person in India.
I dont have a problem with people in India, but if i have a problem i want it sorted pronto with some one whom can speak english and understands what i am asking, not having to repeat myself over and over.
Again this is not that fault of people in India,it is AOLs problem using those people as cheap labour.

Thanks for the info chrisapplegate :)

Never had a problem with AOL when I used them a few years ago, but can't comment on their services now. Probably as good or bad as any other ISP depending on what you expect from them...

I started on AOL Silver and am still on the same package. AOL have recently reduced the line rental for new customers, but existing customers are intitled to it as well. i phoned uyp initially to get my speed increased (we recently had a line upgrade so can get 1mb instead of 512kb!! (Live in remote parts of cornwall at the end of the line!!)

I would just phone them up and ask them about it. they will be happy to upgrade your service (They keep you for 12 months!!)

Thanks for getting back to me Chrisapplegate.

Called AOL on the phone number you provided. Got thro' their customer services in India [I must say that they are reasonably good and more importantly very polite].

Asked them whether they are any offers for old subscribers [have been with AOL since 2003]. I am currently on AOL Silver for £17.99 per month. They offered the following:-

1. Upgrade to AOL Gold - for £19.99 pm with free wireless router.
2. Stay on AOL Silver - for £14.99 pm with free wireless router.
3. Stay on AOL Silver - for £9.99 pm without the wireless router

As I already have a wireless router [Netgear], I thought I should be better off with the £9.99 offer and agreed with it. I also took the £2.99 per month deal for AOL Talk [it was not compulsory, but it seemed to be a good plan].

I hope other AOL subscribers [who are happy with their service] can take advantage of these offers.

Credit to Chrisapplegate to bring it to my notice.

Saabu.

EDIT: Just realised you've saved £96 on the years sub!! not bad for a two min phone call :)

You are absolutely right - saved almost £100.00 by a two minute phone call to AOL. Infact, I had already added to your reputation thanking you for saving me this amount.
