I have a motorola modem and a belkin router,so it's helped me..............................................

Applied for one myself a few days back. Unsure if I will get though as I currently get M broadband which is soon to become the L.

Also the way its worded on the site it seems its for current customers that don't have BB with them, not sure about current BB customers. I would phone, but I always seem to get the trainee that knows nothing about current offers or deals.

At a last resort I may try the retentions line to get one. Surly as a 5 year + customer of all services I am entitled to a free router as ALL other company's seem to offer ?.

Try this link ..

Put in your postcode choose your current services and add the free wireless router.

Did this a while a go but was billed £30 for it. Rang up and got it removed though. Beware
#16
Charged me £7 for this a few months ago.

FREE
to existing non-broadband customers taking Broadband Size: L or XL.

On that basis I am not going to apply because they will either charge me for it (within their rights IMO) or apply the full £20 charge for the L BB which I am not currently paying. So if you have done this 2 months ago and are sure they have billed you correctly, this is (possibly) a hot deal, otherwise for me its cold. I reckon you haven't had a bill since you did this, am I right?
#18
im dubious about this i was on 2 meg, and the changed to 10meg in my area, although they never seemed to mention i had been moved over to a large BB size. It is confusing, ive tried adding more services and router before and it charged me for them so it took it off. I;d ring customer services to see what extra i can get for free, but they always seem to take forever answering and tby the time you finish talking to them its cost you a fortune on the old mobile.
#19
Might give it a go...nothing ventured nothing gained
#20
Got one of these last year. It is the same as my netgear wgr614 so never unwrapped it.

Can it be used to extend the range of my wireless? I had a look but never found an answer or how to do it.
Any tips?

It is available to existing BB users, I got one for free a while back but have never even unwrapped it, apparently you can take the Virgin firmware off it but it's a bit of a faff.

Anyway, if your on M broadband and you want it all you have to do is upgrade to L for a month and order the router at the same time. Then you can downgrade again once the month is up - not quite free but a new router plus 1 month 5x faster internet for a fiver is not be sniffed at. Everyone on Virgin BB should get one!

They come in a box with a tampon advert on it though.
#24
BTW just ring em up it's much easier than faffing around on the website and they usually end up calling you anyway.:-D

150 from a Virgin line
#25
Just ordered - am on L size broadband so hope they honour as free!
#26
so look like i will have to upgrade for a month, be careful if you try online as it does say free wireless router when you are ordering and then it changes to wireless router so that's when i decided to phone them. I have the M package and they just tried to charge me £40:evil:
#27
Cold from me, yes router is free but look at the bold italic wording below, can't see them honouring this and they are more than likely to come back and charge everyone when they notice the uplift in routers being sent out:

Wireless Router

How is this a deal?
I got a free router with my L BB last year anyway.
#30
They also in the small print charge you a £30 installation charge
#31
You might well get it for free but you will possibly also enter into a fresh 12 month contract by doing so.
#32
Just tried speaking to a customer advisor regarding this. They were rubbish! Really bad service from virgin.
#33
Just tried myself and it does say new broadband customers

Carried on anyway and added it , didnt change any other items and it then tried charging me installation

Voted cold - i didnt proceed with it

Dont call me a fibber, i just phoned them and i was told £40. Why would i need to lie.
#35
Got mine. Paying £25 for 10mb broadband ,unlimited calls phone and mid range tv chanels plus free Netgear router. Only grievance is that I had to pay £15 for delivery by courier.
#36
Heat added - didnt know they gave them away free, will be getting mine soon. : )
#37
Tried this and it wants to charge me for a phone line. I only have the broadband.

Soz, seems a few people are having problems getting hold of them for free. Can't understand why they'd change their policy now though as it's been available for free for months and months. Maybe the staff on a weekend are just shite???

Another "L" customer who could not get a free one, tried twice, then paid £40 delivered. My Mum as a brand new customer did not get one either.
