The W500 features an iris-like lens design that mimics our own eye, adjusting the aperture after analyzing the incoming video signal. The aperture is contracted during dark scenes for truer black tones and enhanced detail, while it is enlarged for bright scenes to maximize light output and enable a wider dynamic range. No matter what type of content is on, the W500 ensures that you get the very best viewing experience.

The W500 not only converts SD content such as analog TV broadcasts to HD-quality video, but it analyzes an amazing 1,024 pixels in the source for each pixel in the final HD version for native HD-like picture quality.

The W500 analyzes multiple frames in source video to identify and then eliminate pixels giving rise to visual noise, and also corrects for distortions resulting from too much compression.

Sophisticated Multi-Dimensional Diagonal Filtering (MDDF) technology smoothes away the "jaggies" that crop up along the edges of moving objects-even those lying at shallow angles of 5° to 7° while regular filters can only handle larger angles from 30° to 45°.

The W500 achieves greater color accuracy by handling each color signal in the video input individually, applying its brightness value directly in rendering the video. In contrast, regular projectors use a sampling process, which inevitably results in a loss of information about specific color signals and color distortion in the final projection image.

The W500 gives you access to both newer digital and traditional analog video formats with its wide range of connection interfaces. You don't have miss out on any of the fun.

I think this is expired, click on the "Xbox 360 promotion" link in your basket and it takes you to a page that says the promotion is no longer running?
#6

They've fixed the cart trick.

FWIW BenQ projectors are excellent. I had it's little bro - W100 - and that was a sterling bit of kit. Excellent colour straight out the box and quiet to boot. Only thing wrong was it was 480p not 720p. This one is tho so snap it up for a steal of a price, even without the 360!
#15
I am not sure why people fancy this projector. its only 1100 Ansi

For films and games that's plenty in a darkened room (as PJs should be used in to get their full performance). The brighter ones are generally for data use (powerpoint, etc) and are 4:3 not 16:9. They can be louder too. For the cash this is damn good. Near that price is Panasonic AX100 and Infocus IN76, both are more and both don't have a free 360!

he he did'nt order it - knowing ma luck I'd be charged for TWO PJ's and only get ONE Xbox  :giggle:

Don't know much about this, so thanks to the OP for the heads up.

I think the deal is available elsewhere, but this is the best price I've seen.

Does anyone know how much the bulbs are?

Seriously tempted. I want one to watch films and use with Xbox 360. Not too sure how I'd set it up. I have a long narrow room, could I run a cable right to the back of my room? How many cables would I need to run to it? Any further comments appreciated.

Thanks

I think they will be good because then it can seem that you are in the game itself! ;-) However, the bulbs can be expensive to replace. :-(

Bit confused by some reviews which talk about the Benq W500 as being an LCD projector?

I assume it is in fact DLP, but the review I read on www.aboutprojectors.com is clearly about an LCD Benq W500.:?
#27
It's an LCD. There's a 31 page thread about it here

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=725484

For example

Well, the projector did come and, although this is the first time posting here, I am not new to projectors. That being said I am blown away by this projector's picture, especially at this price point.

HD content is fantastic, as expected - but the huge feature is the HQV scaler. Unless you've lived under a rock the past 10 years and do not have a DVD collection this should be a big deal for you.

I cannot beileve how good SD content looks on this thing! I've watched Kill Bill 1 & 2 the past 2 nights and kept remarking how good the picture looked throughout.

It's not widescreen, it's not HD and they don't actually have any, but it's cheap.

Helpful thread here

Which is it DLP or LCD? Is there a definitive answer? And does anyone know if this the best deal at this price?

Yes mine came 2 days ahead of schedule. I'm very happy with it, though I haven't had time to do much with it. As for room size you should be able to get a 100" diagonal at about 11'. There is an excellent calculator on the Benq page

On Dabs for £680.

This is the 360 arcade - but not being a console lover I've no idea which is better, so shoot it down if it's ****.
