I managed to get this as a pricematch deal - it works out as the cheapest in the UK by a decent margin.

PC World have it in stock for a ludicrous £319.97.
Play.com have it in stock for £139.99 delivered, but using the 5% off promotion, it comes to £132.99 delivered (PC World seemed to be fine with the discount applied)

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3479040/-/Product.html

This makes the difference between the two £186.98. PC World currently have a pricematch promotion of 110% of the difference.

This means that the pricematch discount is £205.68, taking the total price to £114.29. It took a lot of patience and debate with the manager, but I did manage to get this price. He did have to call head office though, so I'm not sure how long they will be selling it for £319.97 though. You'll need a printout from play.com.

This one has a larger 32mb cache, a fanless enclosure and a LED on the drive to display how much space is left and two years' warranty (as opposed to one, I believe). There have also been complaints about the failure rate on the Maxtors.

This one has

- 32MB Cache
- Fanless enclosure
- Two year warranty (as opposed to one, I believe)

There also seems to be quite a high failure rate on the Maxtors.

I own 3 maxtor externals, one is about 3 years old, never had a single problem. Got them on usually 24/7 as they're good substitutes for poor laptop space.

I don't see how this can be a hot deal? The price is £319.97 LOL
Yeah, there is the price match, so are we now gonna see a hot deal on price match for every item that PC World stocks?
I'd say the Play.com price is the deal, as it is a listed price, and you can use Quidco too.

The Pricematch is 110% of the difference, so the high price is a *good* thing

A 750GB in a fanless enclosure is suicide. Even in a desktop case, they recommend a fan. Both are good prices. Voted hot, but not sure I can be bothered argueing with PC World over the price promise thing.
