REVIEW FROM SITE:-

"Probably the best portable USB hard disk available at the moment. It consists of a Samsung 2.5" laptop hard disk encased in a black rubber sleeve. This rubber coating helps to protect the drive as you carry it around (the whole point of portable) and also means it is fingerprint resistant unlike glossy plastic cases. Second advantage to the rubber skin is that it absorbs sound and vibration meaning the drive is whisper quiet during operation. Those worried about cooling shouldn't be, the drive only warms slightly during extended periods of operation. The only fault I can find, and I'm being really picky here, is that the supplied USB cable is simply too short (less than 1 inch). Once formatted, the drive's real world capacity is 298GB."

Bad drives!
We have had the USB connector lift off the pcb on 3 in work. The pcb is soldered onto the hdd so you can't put it in a laptop Too (no satA connections)

I have one of these it is very short, but that's OK with a laptop, and I use it on my desktop too, no real problems.

Thanks, ordered a couple always a useful thing to have and a spare.

Looks longer than 1" to me :-)

If you format the drive to FAT32 you are limited to the size files you can put on the drive, i think its about 4.2Gb.. you can fill the drive up but if you try to send a file that bigger it will say there's not space on the drive.. if you format the drive to exFATor NTFS you wont have this problem but it will limit what you can use the drive on. hope this helps.. BTW Great Find and i ordered one :) heat added

Awesome deal, good drive inside these by the sounds of it. Samsung is shown in many of the reviews, so should be very quiet and nice and cool/long lasting. It going to live in my work bag, much better value than a USB key, and still very small/light.

ordered, was debating between this and the 500GB Michael Jackson one from Ebuyer

IF IT HAD BEEN A GUY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT LONGER

Ordered this for a friend but got the dreaded "awaiting stock" message from play despite being in stock when I ordered. I doubt they will ever get these in again so it is just another failed order at play.com. It looks like a great drive if it gets delivered.

I am sure it was a very cold day ;-)

£53.89 on Amazon.

54 out of 64 reviews give it 4 or 5 stars.
So a thousand lemmings cannot be wrong.

Just wondering because if I format it to FAT32, I can plug into Xbox and play dvds.

Saves burning discs etc
