Freedom pop's premium deal now is 2.25 GB of data with unlimited minutes and texts, on a month to month contract for only £6.99. The first month is free, so you can try before you buy, and Quidco are currently offering £8.80 cashback (or Topcashback £8.40 if you prefer). They also on 4G.

A couple of watch-outs - they use 3's network, and if it is like it was when I last used their free sim, you have to install their app which caused a few problems for me when I used it on my dual sim phone (basically I couldn't get the second sim to work until I uninstalled the app).

If you don't like the premium service in the first month you can drop down to the free service, which offers 200MB of data, 200 minutes and 200 texts which would do for a light user or spare phone.

Unless something has changed MASSIVELY, all calls and texts run through your internet connection and I heard very few positives about the quality (that's putting it politely).

Yes it would e until u realise it's not a normal mobile network it actually runs of the internet so more like a voip but the call quality is very bad if u think it will be as good as whatsapp call quality think again about getting this.

Warning: iMessage and Facetime no longer work with your number
Plus text messages only through their app
And finally your caller will hear bell ringing but your mobile will ring about 2 bells late- so expect to miss a few calls

I definately would not recommend, and they debit randomly even when i turned everything off and was on free plan- am disputing the random £1 debits (i dont have auto-topup turned on)

I signed up to the offer of 16gb unlimited calls for £10 a month the data part of the service is fine, but trying to make calls well thats a joke every time you try and make a call its say service not available. Why dont they just do away with there useless app for the paying part of the service.

I have only one thing to say - don't even contemplate this 'deal'. You're just throwing money away.

I've always been a fan, of the free service. but after they decided to take my number off me, with a few over night hours warning. After having it for over a year, my opinion has changed

I tested this some 12 months ago, due to the nature of mobile internet signal this is not a good replacement for your mobile. Far better sim only deals out there.

don't bother. it's hopeless

Also lost my number recently. Got 200MB data as compensation but if it doesn't rollover I got it for 4 days, lousy.

Same, but 2 days left.
As it happens the new number is pretty good, but can't put much trust in it now.
Good job I never actually used it as my main number.

This can't be called a mobile phone service: data works ok but even with full strength signal I never managed to make or receive a call. The app that you have to use is buggy, too.

I'm all for cheap services, but if they don't work then there's no point. Save your money and get a proper SIM only deal.

Great as an extra number on the free plan. iMessage does work for Apple ID but sadly the calls have a 5 second delay on speech both ways and the texts go through a second app so cannot recommend on a paid plan.

Remember it's free to try for a month. Give it a go, if you don't like then cancel.

Dreadful voice quality on this, and that's if you're lucky to get a call to connect. Life's too short to waste on rubbish like this.

Terrible company pls stay away. They randomly debit your PayPal account even without authorisation. When you try call CS the agents are useless and lie and you just go around in circles.

Viber and whatsapp can do that with any internet connection! Useless company luckily didn't order sim after reading comments! Wanted to add this and that wrks out the same as a normal sim! Just get a plusnet £5 sim to get 250 mins and unlimited txts not worth this **** just to save £2 or something

mine has been working OK, data is good except that they have disabled hotspot use, texts American calls OK too, sometimes have to call twice. new application works fine with dual sim phones.

are you using the FP messaging app or the free calls and text app?

I've been using freedompop for three months, excellent value, but lots of texts don't send, you'll miss texts sent to you by others, call quality is very poor, and I haven't been able to make any calls for 36 hours. Have asked for my PAC :-( some things aaren't worth saving a couple of quid a month!

How can you say it's "excellent value" and then go on to say the service is basically $hite?
It isn't good value if your paying for something that doesn't work.

was temped into this a few months ago because the price seemed really good but save your time and stay far far away. This is a cancer of a company and what you think you're saving on paper will be washed away with hassle and hidden charges.

i have used this and still do, it is very good ib my opinion. the big flaw is you must use the app in order to send and receive text messages but you can receive and make calls as normal if you have the sim card in the phone so i dont know why people are saying you have to use the app to make phone calls, the internet speeds are quite good and another good thing about freedompop is on the iphone app you dont need to have the sim in the phone, you can just login and make calls/texts off the app and have another sim in the phone and essentially have a dual sim phone
